yeah, it's basically impossible to not misinterpret in this form of conversing. I never meant to imply that he no longer cares about Tesla, because frankly to know that I would actually have to read his mind, in either case, that's impossible and not a thing anyone can prove. What I can see is that he is working on things that are not directly related to Tesla and the ongoing projects there which was my point to begin with. The guy's attention is fractured across dozens of projects, some impact tesla directly, some indirectly, some probably not at all as far as anyone can tell.
Also, just to be clear, I don't want to come across like I'm shitting on Elon here, he's the most important entrepreneur in my lifetime and accomplished incredible things.
I have a separate hypothesis as to what Elon actually cares about, nothing provable , but it seems consistent enough across everything that he does. I think he mostly cares about his overall vision towards what he considers a good future for humanity and above all, in his words "preserving the light of human consciousness" which more specifically means Mars, so it makes sense that his current focus is more on SpaceX vs Tesla beyond just the recent IPO.
huh? I mean I was talking about the next hype cycle but SpaceX of course has already moved to working towards this. They filed an FCC request for a million satellites and Elon was talking recently about the AI1 satellite built for this. https://t.co/n8SB1dgLbQ this is super cool btw, hope it works. Maybe they need it to finally finish FSD, who knows :)
lol, sure buddy, just go with Elon :)
I'm not giving an opinion on how he should run the company, I'm saying from my perspective as a passive observer for a long time Elon has mostly delivered just hype.
I also really like the company and I'm rooting for them to succeed, FSD can save millions of lives, and Optimus can save millions of manhours, of course I want Tesla to deliver those products but nobody has a clue when those are likely to materialize and Elon has already moved onto data centers in space.
Those things are not mutually exclusive, of course everyone at Tesla is working on very difficult things and wants to make progress. My point if that because all those projects are very difficult they will all inevitably run into blockers that need extra resources and attention, and there's only so much of that to go around. That's one of the main reasons Tesla is so successful, Elon's ability to cut through a lot of the usual bs and give his engineers the resources that are stopping or slowing them down.
She would have been fine, her dog was the one in trouble here. I've seen grizzlies on the trail plenty of times, they are barely (unintentional pun :) ) interested in you most of the time, occasionally they fake charge like here ( I have never been fake charged, some of my friends have)
I 100% agree that she should have had bear spray though, or at least something like a bear horn but she showed amazing composure. Plenty of things you can do to mitigate these types of encounters, like don't be alone in grizzly territory, should always have probably at least 3 people and parks does a good job keeping people informed as to which areas to avoid or which areas to take extra caution in, such as not hiking alone.
I mean I half agree but I don't think that's quite whatever a "man cave" ( stupid word imo) is meant to be. It's not a place you can temporarily have to yourself that's still probably filled with your wife's or your kids' stuff. I think it's a place specifically for you, to engage in whatever hobbies you have surrounded by things you've chosen that your kids maybe shouldn't touch.
But yeah many people don't necessarily need that I guess depending on your hobbies or lifestyle.
Humans are basically scavengers :) , we'll eat whatever we can find. Luckily, we live at a time where many of us get to eat what we like, if you like meat that much, eat just meat, I prefer more balance in my food. Seems to me like I can find examples of people following all kinds of diets who are quite healthy, it's more about being mindful and not putting garbage into your body. The idea that humans evolved to eat mostly meat strikes me as incomplete. I love dairy but that's a relatively recent mutation and not everyone can digest it effectively, but as someone from presumably a long line of northern European peasants I get to enjoy delicious cheeses.
Seems like there was a huge uptick in this trend between 2022 and 2025 but this has flattened out ie. the carnivore diet is probably reaching peak saturation and interest has leveled off. Losing popularity is a bit misleading, it's just no longer explosively growing like it did for the last few years.
I've lived in Athens between 1989 and 1991, coming from communist Poland the place was magical. Athens was so vibrant and alive, I have some of my best memories from the 2 years living there. Finally got a chance to visit again in 2023 and it made me sad. The places I used to pass through daily, Omonia and Victoria squares were nothing like I remembered, the only area that I think actually improved was my old neighborhood in Kaisariani. Greece is such a beautiful country, I really hope it will turn around, I hope to visit again soon, I'm not going to wait another 3 decades and I still had an awesome time there.
You don't feel hungry because you need food, you feel hungry when you've boxed yourself into an eating schedule and miss a meal that your body expects to come at some specific time.
I prefer to keep my body on its toes, never knowing when the next meal is coming.
Makes me happy to know I can go for days without eating anything and not pass out or go into some kind of low blood sugar coma.
The distinction is taught in junior high, definitely by high school, you can summarize it in a few sentences.
Oh, and there are probably many people who just happened to grow up in a communist state like I did, I've known the distinction intuitively before I could even define it, just from looking at the shelves in any store.
Literally had one kind of everything growing up, one kind of potato chips, one kind of ice cream, one kind of milk. You get the point, when the means of production are centralized you tend to not get variety of options.
Sure. There might be people that genuinely confuse the concept but calling someone a communist is just a stronger pejorative than a socialist and anyway, it's intended as an insult and not meant to invite some policy debate.
They are, and they are a good starting point for a mass produced humanoid robot, but I think over time this will diverge as special purpose robots will outperform the generic versions in their respective domains. Eventually, it will probably be a mix of both, not sure how things will break down.
@Myself9752465 Looking forward to going there this weekend, the bigger issue here is Canadians failing to take responsibility for what is mostly our own failures, don't blame the neighbors for how badly our country is being run.
@Reil76 Possibly.
I actually grew up in a communist state so I might be suffering from a type of curse of knowledge bias here.
I still think it's both, but I don't know how the numbers would break down.
