Right now, anti-trans rhetoric and policy is an all time high. I survived 27 years of violent homophobia just to walk into this the last few years. But I’m a survivor of a lot.

I’ve survived gay conversion therapy, violent homophobic attacks, being kicked out at 18 for being gay & leaving home with a trash bag of my things, losing everything in a house fire and being homeless for 6 months, 15 years of stage 4 endometriosis & 6 years of being disabled and losing everything again, facing my own death at 32, recessions, war, terrorism, etc. That’s the tip of the iceberg. I’ve had a crazy life.

My friends all tell me they would pick me for their end of the world zombie apocalypse team because of my survival skills. I have no more “normalcy bias” left. Normalcy bias is when people want to believe everything is going to be ok despite everything being on fire. I see things 4 moves ahead of them happening because I have no normalcy bias.

That’s why transphobes will never get to me. I’ve survived too much. But what about those of us who don’t have that skillset yet? The young trans folks? What’s happening against trans people right now is NOT normal.

Right now, facism is a haunting specter worldwide. We should be fighting against that. Not fighting against trans people. I will 100% blame TERFs if facism comes to town for focusing on the wrong enemy. When they become breeding vessels only under a fascist regime, don’t come crying to me about it.
