The Spanish Inquisition lasted for over 350 years (1478-1834), where 100,000s of Christian heretics (non-Catholic, Protestants), Muslims and Jews were killed, burnt at the stake, tortured in prison or expelled.

This is not to be confused with the original Inquisition in 1209, the Cathar crusade, where Pope Innocent III eliminated almost 1 million Cathars in Languedoc, now southern France, because they weren’t Christian enough.

Note: similar to rabbinical authority, popes have papal infallibility, which was officially declared in 1870 by the Vatican council.

An old heart is brown, a pathologist can guess the age of the owner from the shade, and the brown is fat that went rancid inside the muscle and stuck.

The pigment has a name. Lipofuscin. It is polyunsaturated fat that oxidised, broke into aldehydes, and welded itself to protein.

The cell cannot digest it. Nothing can. It sits in the cell for the rest of the cell's life, and in cells that never divide, heart muscle, nerve cells, the retina, the rest of the life is your life.
