Waterfall City Athletics Club is deeply saddened by the passing of runner Dezirée du Plessis, who tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle during the Soweto Marathon.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends, loved ones, running club and the wider running community during this incredibly painful time.

This tragedy is a stark reminder of the importance of athlete safety at road running events. As a running community, we mourn together and stand in solidarity with all those affected.

May her soul rest in eternal peace. 🕊️💔
