A 16-year-old student (now 22) from Limpopo, South Africa, has received attention for a safety device she designed. Her name is Bohlale Mphahlele. She created the idea for a device called the "Alerting Earpiece." It is a small device shaped like an earring. The goal is to help people in dangerous situations.
She got the idea because of high crime rates and gender-based violence in South Africa. She wanted to design something small, simple, and easy to use.
The design includes a small camera, a GPS tracker, and an alert button. The idea is that the user can press a hidden button. The device would then take a photo of the attacker. It would also send the user's location to trusted contacts and emergency services.
The device is still in development: The prototype has won awards (including bronze at the Eskom Expo) and international attention, but it’s not yet commercially available.
It will hit the market sooner than later show how one idea from one person will eventually effect the lives of many

🟣 One of the biggest lessons from continental football is how crucial are set plays in deciding tight matches.
17 corner-kicks for @orlandopirates , you make those count. On 2 occasions, Sibisi was looking for his teammates at the far post with the ball past Otieno already…and there was no one to finish off.

South Africa's history curriculum is set to undergo an overhaul.
The changes aim to make the subject more African-centred in classrooms. The proposed curriculum, which would be compulsory, includes teaching South African history from before 1652. https://t.co/gKT6rKMHbH
@QedaZA Apparently, this Ndondana happened to rise up again on the the 3rd day and is now seated at the right hand of His father. And Ndodana was also told about this before it happened. He seems to have consented
🚨BREAKING
Pep Guardiola to Leeds United fans:
"There are people fasting because of Ramadan. Why do you boo when the game is paused for a minute or two? Show respect for religions! We live in a modern world, don't we? Look at what's happening in the world right now. Watch what happened today. The whole point is to respect all religions. What's the problem?"
I couldn’t resist and really get me emotional and angry yesterday night.
Celebration is emotion.
And emotion is heartbeat of football.
So why is it suddenly a controversy when Vinícius celebrates?
That part I don’t understand.
Why does his joy seems to bother some people more than others?
He plays at the top of the game.
We all understand that he gets criticized. It comes with territory.
When you perform at the biggest stage in the world, every touch, every decision, every reaction is been under the Lupe.
That’s football.
But racism?
That’s Poison!
For me It’s a failure of character!
For those maybe needs help;
There is a clear difference between questioning a player’s tactical discipline and attacking who he is as a person.
The more expressive a player is, the more attention he will get, the more visible he becomes, and obviously the more uncomfortable insecure people can feel we know that.
Not everyone is comfortable with joy.
Not everyone is comfortable with confidence, and not everyone is comfortable watching a young, successful athlete dominate on Europe’s biggest stage without apologizing for it.
Some will never understand I think,
players who face resistance often develop a mental strength others never have build.
Vinícius is not shrinking himself anymore.
That’s why this discussion goes beyond one player.
Standing against racism in football isn’t about protecting a star.
For me it’s about protecting the integrity of the game itself!
Football should be emotional.
That’s why it makes it powerful.
But it should never slip into dehumanization!!!
It shouldn’t matter which badge you wear or which club you support, and we should be better than this.
