This evening, President @HEBobiwine & fellow leaders in the NUP have received the first batch of 12 Ugandans who have just returned to Uganda from the detention centres in the UAE.They all narrated very painful stories about what they have been through while under detention for.

Very delighted this evening to receive the first batch of 12 Ugandans who have been stuck at Al Awir Deportation Jail for several months! The stories are sad. Many fled dehumanising conditions and ended up in the detention. Grateful to all of you who have embraced this effort!

We spent the day at Kitalya Prison to check on our comrades who are detained there for close to two years. These include part of the 32 who were denied bail by the military court this week, as well as many who were picked up for putting on red berets in 2020.

The military court today refused to grant bail to a group of 32 @NUP_Ug supporters who were picked up in 2020 and early 2021. In detention close to 2 years for supporting me and NUP! The trial has not even started! Overcome by anger, the relatives gathered outside court and wept!
