United Kingdom - Immigration

On presenting my passport to the immigration officer at London Gatwick on Sunday, she asks me to prove I won’t stay in the UK.

You are struggling to find a free page to stamp in my passport evidence that I struggle to stay even in my country, I tell her.

I add, at 52yrs I can never adjust to any weather other than that of East Africa and the worst is adjusting to food. I can’t wait to finish my work and head home, I tell her again.

I start telling her what makes Uganda unique( great weather, great food, unique attractions etc) and yap, I pass on my business card and we both were happy at the end of it all.

One thing traveling has taught me is to avoid getting over offended, in this world there are good people everywhere and bad people in every country.

When traveling, you get so many opportunities of getting offended and can always cloud your purpose for travel, avoid it as much as possible.

We often don’t remember how many people are bad in our own countries especially when traveling and we meet a few mad ones.

I think God created Uganda last and made sure it’s the best environment for humans to live. Sometimes I struggle with whether we are the right people for Uganda.
