Families need 2 positives. Essential care partners or givers is a risk assessed approach (according to Public Health Agency NI). While staff access is essential they are also a risk - evidence during the pandemic. Balance needs struck.

We need to establish a statutory right for ‘individuals’ to a designated Care Partner across all health & social care settings. Must be supported by a statutory, binding & enforceable Code of Practice creating clear legal duties on providers.

We now have folk filled with regret, guilt & torment because they couldn’t be with their loved ones when they passed, even though some MLAs that supported these harmful & horrific laws flouted them themselves. At a time of crisis we need more scrutiny in the Assembly not less.

Care Homes were left unregulated more so during the #pandemic. Families enforced to separate. Families not allowed to be families @paulfrewDUP 💔 Loved ones died alone. This must never be forgotten.
Hopeful #CarePartners will be placed on a legislative footing.

I’m now questioning the efforts I’ve put in to @covidinquiryuk and those of the bereaved. The legal efforts to make things right. Inquiry’s decision recently to exclude bereaved corporate witnesses [Care Home module] can only be described as shameful. 🥲😡
