@SamabaSphere @Kraftycaroline @MattJury_Law No, it's been available via BBC NI or BBC Wales, region dependant, since the 1970s, possibly 60s.
And not through another provider.
It has always been free to air. The only channel we could never access was BBC3. Hope that clears that up.
