Free people read freely. Libraries are forums for information and ideas, and the First Amendment protects the right to receive and possess information. Take a stand against censorship, visit https://t.co/nP7lbdJjco. #bannedbooksweek

@AaronLBrenneman Great question: A banned book is the generic term when a book is removed from the shelves based on someone's formal request. Banned books vary by school, library or state. When a title has been requested to be removed, that act is called a book challenge. https://t.co/gnLdzYuwyy
Dr. Sacks 8th grade students chose a banned book to read and discuss. “In my 25 years of teaching this is the first time we are focusing a theme around banned books. When you censor what literature is available, you are narrowing the information that kids get to learn about.”
Let freedom read! #Bannedbooksweek celebrates the value of free and open access to information and brings people together in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas. Stop by your library this week to pick up free stickers, bookmarks, and book bags.
Join the Library and other community partners at the La Pine Community Harvest and Resource Fair on October 4. Food, games, resources, and more will be available at the La Pine Elementary playground.
