I'm also an investor in all hyperscalers and Meta but I'm not convinced that their is an ROI yet. And example you shared here is elusive indication of sustainable ROI. Showing cloud revenue surge is not enough. By this logic Anthropic's explosive ARR would have calmed the market months ago. They all know there is demand for these models and that demand is satisfied by hyperscalers/neoclouds etc. So it's no brainer that all these companies will have accelerated growth for near term. Real question is customers who are paying for these AI products can see meaningful transformation in their businesses or not? That could be from revenue growth, operational efficiency, new expansions etc. But entire ecosystem needs to show meaningful positive metrics in order to build confidence in this buildout.

I'm bullish for the long term but these companies have to do more to gain market's confidence the way they are spending.

While it’s important to support our students and ask for educational reforms that positively impact the future of our youth, it’s also very important that peaceful protests by students are Not hijacked by anti national elements to create chaos & change the nature of the protest.

Seeing so much hate & divide online makes me wonder if bad elements in & outside our country have already started to work overtime to weaponise the anger & frustration felt by our students.

I have always believed in hard work, equality and excellence & that should never be compromised. I also believe in our democracy, law and order & our government, therefore I sincerely hope that both sides enter into meaningful & constructive dialogue & weed out any nefarious elements & agendas out of this protest & conversation , so the future is bright for our youth and for our democracy ! 🇮🇳 Jai Hind !

Burnout hits hard when stress outweighs the rewards. When this happens, even simple tasks feel impossible. This is a signal that something is off - workload, environment, or priorities.

Every job has a mix of stress and reward, and a good workplace balances them well. Stress is not inherently bad - it can drive growth and achievement when managed well. But when it exceeds your limits, it becomes harmful, affecting your mental and physical health.

According to me, an ideal role/work balance these five dimensions

- challenging: pushes your boundaries
- rewarding: offers financial gains
- educational: helps you grow in your career
- impactful: contributes to a broader purpose
- respected: builds your credibility and is recognized by others in your field.

No job will maximize all these factors simultaneously. Depending on your career stage, you can optimize on a few that align with your current priorities. Early on, you might value education and challenges, while in the later stages, you might prefer rewards.

However, by the end of your career, all five dimensions should balance out (be almost equal), and that, according to me, is an ideal end to a career.

Italy is also a democracy like India. Millions don't like and didn't vote PM Meloni in Italy.

Yet, when Trump recently made a silly remark about Meloni "begging to take pics with him", the whole country, including opposition, have stood behind her.

Nobody is mocking her using Trump's comments. Nobody is saying she has made Italy look weak. None in Italy is taking the side of Trump mocking their PM for some silly political gratification.

My family moved to the US when I was 8, but by the time I turned 20, my dad was still on an H1B (waiting to get processed for a green card).

Once I turned 21, I would age out as his dependent, despite the fact that I basically grew up in the US.

I thought I'd have to become a code monkey after college, and even that only if I was lucky enough to win the H1B lottery.

Otherwise, back to India.

I had become a huge fan of @paulg's essays in college. I was actually depressed that my desire to start a startup or do something entrepreneurial was basically hopeless.

Working on the promising podcast I was doing as a side project? A beyond impossible pipe dream.

Even after 9 years, my dad wasn't able to get a green card - and the lines were only getting longer over time. I figured I'd be an old man before I could quit some FANG job and build my own thing.

By some miracle, COVID travel restrictions cleared out the lines, and I got my green card literally months before I would have aged out.

If not for this unbelievable coincidence, I would not be hosting the podcast.

In the best case, I would be shifting pixels around in the 3rd sub-sub-menu of some big tech software.

I'm incredibly grateful I made it through.

But it's unconscionable that we put the kids of high skilled immigrants through all this anxiety, and in many cases make them repeat the nerve-racking indentured life trajectory that they had to watch their parents go through.

About 11 years ago, with our very talented Annapurna team and informed by the unusual scale and insight we had in operating the largest cloud infrastructure, we decided to design and build our own CPU chip.

This CPU chip is now known as Graviton, and is well-loved by our AWS customers. About 98% of our top 1,000 EC2 customers use Graviton expansively. Over 120,000 customers are using Graviton. Meta just committed to tens of millions of Graviton cores for their agentic AI efforts. Uber and Snowflake are deploying Graviton as well.
