@ELmagazine A6: It is all about the intent and use. We are primarily embodied beings and so F2F should be prioritized. But tech can supplement in powerful ways. The best use I've seen is for chronically ill students who can continue to maintain community and connection with tech. #ELMagChat
@PrincipalPaul@BuhlerUSD313 A4: I think when students feel like the learning is purposeful then that is a good indicator. Who wants to go to school for no purpose! The right integration can transform students' attitudes.
A4: #ELMagChat I know Natalie and I keep tweeting this but it is good stuff- does tech make learning more Equitable, more Effective, more Efficient, or more Engaging? Great Qs
@PrincipalPaul It is important to recognize how the complexity of certain tools might exclude certain learners. As Natalie said, #equity is of primary importance.
@ELmagazine I also think it is important to note that the impact of a tech has a lot to do with its use- how is it implemented? The effects are more nuanced than this tech= good, that=bad.
@ELmagazine The Amish, when evaluating technology in their community ask the question "Does it bring us together or draw us apart?" I think this is an interesting question to ask- Especially when we think of the isolation, anxiety and other mental health issues students are facing.
@ELmagazine Each one of us is unique- I think each teacher needs to be given the autonomy to figure out where they are and how they want to proceed but they would benefit from an opportunity to reflect on where they are and what they're seeing as the effects of tech on themselves & students
