I have been able to establish long-term habits (writing, cardio, resistance exercise, playing various instruments) with a mix of experience and research.

Here are what I consider to be the most important points so you can form habits that stick in the time.

Don't wait for the motivation 🏃‍♀️
The most important factor in forming habits correctly is not waiting for motivation to carry out the task and doing it even without the desire or sufficient enthusiasm. Consistency will reward us with motivation, and we will begin to enjoy the task

External elements with caution 🎧
Use external elements to help overcome initial friction, such as the company of a friend or listening to good music. But use them with caution as we want to become used to the activity itself, not the externalities. Habits must be context- independent.

Associate with long-term goals 📈
Habits should be associated with long-term goals, but they should be realistically established to commit over time. The SMART technique can be useful. Be patient and wait at least 2 months to begin seeing results, as impatience can lead to frustration.

Realistic daily routines ⏰
Establishing a realistic daily time for habit formation is crucial. If we set long daily times, like 2/3 hrs a day, it will be difficult to maintain It's better to start with commitments of 20 minutes to 1 hour a day.
20 minutes every day are better than 4 hrs the weekend.

Practice Task Bracketing 🧠
Studying in advance the activity will help us use Task Bracketing: which involves visualizing the activity as a series of steps from before starting it until after completing it. This knowledge helps us plan daily activities & break our habit into smaller tasks.

➔ 🤖 Don’t use automation tools : As its usage is against most of the email provider’s TOS, so you can be banned.

➔ ✒️ Be personal: Write personal, organic and custom emails, the last thing you want is your domain or brand to be marked as spammer.

➔ ✍️ Avoid a “template style e-mail”: The email templates are recognizable: Dear [Customer Name], line break. Don´t!

➔ 🤝 Use a social proof: Follow the guy, find something you can be connected to, that can be recognisable for him/her and mention it.

➔ 📑 Write to journalists: Don´t tip the magazine, find a journalist inside the mag that cover the topics behind your product.

➔ 📰 Offer a story, not a product: Journalists are looking for stories, think about the headline: A 15 year old guy creates a free Canva alternative!

➔ 🤏 Write short emails: People are busy, so please be personal, informal, and concise! A personal cold email should be around 150 words

➔ 🗳️ One question only: include only one request or question and the end of the email: could we book a demo? Could I send more info?

➔ 🗃️ Avoid several follow ups: Probably one or two follow up email would be good enough, you don´t want to be blocked.

This is me at the age of five; we used to live in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Colombia!

- A lovely family & friends and plenty of time to enjoy them
- Success in most of the personal & professional projects I've engaged with (sports, music, work)
- The strength to get through the hard times
