It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.

You'll be shocked by the sheer number of people who are bad, very bad at what they do but earn wayyyy higher than you!!!

It’s my birthday and I’m grateful.
For the right people at work, and for friends and family who always show up.
This year: more connections, more growth.
Best one yet 🤗😊
It requires a strong ecosystem, reliability, collaboration, and the ability to scale across teams and products.
Personally, I’m more interested in what this competition brings.
If anything, this is pressure and pressure leads to better products.
There’s been a lot of conversation lately about Claude Design potentially replacing @figma and honestly, I get it.
@claudeai Design is impressive. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s fast, smart, and genuinely exciting. I think every designer should try it.
That combination is practical. It speeds things up without replacing the core workflow.
AI design tools are evolving fast, no doubt. But replacing something as deeply embedded as Figma requires more than impressive outputs.
The best time to fix a structural problem is before it becomes a people problem.
If you're building a team or considering a design leadership role right now, watch this. Share with someone who needs to hear this.

Do the work:
Learn design systems
Read real product/design documentation
Improve your process
Because “pretty UI” is easy.
Scalable design is the real skill.
A Quick rant 😤😤
A lot of designers are still not designing with systems.
Just “nice looking” screens and that’s it.
No components
No text styles
No color styles
No variables
No structure
That’s not the industry standard.
Tools like Figma already give us everything: components, styles, variables, reusable patterns.
There’s no excuse anymore.
And honestly your years of experience don’t matter if the fundamentals are missing.
Stop designing for today.
Start designing for scale.
