To those who are annoyed that we are commemorating the genocide against the tutsi for the 31st time , fasten your seat belts. We shall hold many more commemorations! It is our duty, our detrrmination!
The 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda was not a spontaneous frenzy of horrendous violence.
It was intentional. It was premeditated. It was planned.
This terrible period of Rwanda’s history reminds us that no society is immune from hate and horror.
This April 7, 2025 marks the 31st commemoration of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
France, true to its commitment to remembrance, truth, and justice, fully joins this international day of commemoration.
Today, France extends its deepest thoughts and support to the Rwandan people.
France honors the remarkable resilience of the Rwandan people, who have risen and built a future based on reconciliation and unity.
On this day of remembrance, I reaffirm my commitment to keeping the memory of this tragic event alive, in the face of the challenges posed by revisionism and intolerance. The harrowing testimonies of survivors remind us of the urgent need to fight all forms of hatred.
Since 2019, April 7 has been an official day of commemoration in France, reflecting the will to pass on to future generations the lessons of a painful past—through education, historical research, and justice.
In line with the commitment I made, justice continues to move forward to prosecute and try the alleged perpetrators of the genocide who reside in France. Several major trials have taken place and justice has been served.
These efforts reflect our country's unwavering determination to fight impunity and forgetfulness.
Happening now on Capitol Hill in Washington DC: Members of the diplomatic corps, U.S. Congress, academia, media, the Rwandan community, and friends of #Rwanda are gathered for the 31st commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. #Kwibuka31

This is good news for phone users in #EAC countries. ONA is the regional initiative launched in 2015 with the objective of giving @jumuiya citizens affordable access to inter-EAC roaming services and long-distance calls.
