If you were young in 2001, or weren’t even born yet, it can be hard to imagine what 9/11 felt like. The shock of that beautiful, cloudless morning. The heartbreak of the families whose loved ones were taken with such swiftness and cruelty. The realization that the forces of malevolence and violence were closer, and the future less certain, than we knew.
But in the days that followed, we felt something else, too. Pride in the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene, and the passengers who had stormed the cockpit. Admiration for the men and women who left behind lives of comfort to serve their country. A deep resolve that nothing would break the will of a truly United States of America.
Today Michelle and I are remembering those we lost that day, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed. We pray for their families. And we hope Americans everywhere remember the true lesson of 9/11: that we can survive even our darkest days as long as we move forward as one nation and one people.
A singular performer with inimitable talent and charm, Dolly Parton's work touched countless lives throughout her career.
From her performances across mediums to her philanthropy, Parton was the epitome of the best of the American spirit.
Our thoughts are with her loved ones.
I love them both so much. Dolly Parton was an amazing human being. So charitable, sweet, with the biggest heart. And oh, do I ADORE her music 💕 She will NEVER be forgotten. Rest in peace, dear lady 😭
Like the rest of the world, I’m immediately heartbroken. I met Dolly on several occasions and she always made me feel like one of her own. She even agreed to sing with me on one of my records. My ultimate inspiration. The world has lost one of the best but I know we will never forget her because she is impossible to forget. I love you Dolly and I will ALWAYS love you. 💔🌈🦋

We say goodbye to actor, filmmaker and activist Rob Reiner.
A dedicated storyteller with sincerity that imbued his prolific work and the causes he believed in, Reiner’s heartfelt portrayal of the human condition reminds us of the power of film and its abilities to stay with us.
We are saddened by the loss of actor, filmmaker, and activist Rob Reiner.
A storyteller with sincerity that imbued his work and the causes he believed in, we are grateful for the time we spent with him over the years.
We mourn the loss of him and his wife, Michele.
The deaths of Rob & Michelle Reiner are so hard to process. I don’t want to overstate a friendship with Rob (he had so many friends), but I can say that meeting him felt like you’d known each other for decades.
Kind, gregarious, and giving, Rob, like his dad, was a huge supporter of @TCM. You’ll feel a bit of Rob’s impact on others in this conversation I had with him & his pal since high school, Albert Brooks, for @CBSSunday Morning.
We’re back! The wonderful @imcarolburnett and I had so much fun last year on @tcm cohosting films she spoofed on The Carol Burnett Show that we’ve done it again. Join us Thurs., Nov. 27 and Fri., Nov. 28 starting at 8ET/5PT for a lineup of musicals & their corresponding sketches.

Hello…excellent question. Getting it a lot.
We’re planning a Robert Redford tribute as we speak. It takes some time for us to license the movies - and then we need to shoot the intros. That’s why we seldom do these tributes quickly. But I think we do them well. Thx for asking.
Jane Fonda gave @IndieWire a statement about Redford: “It hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can’t stop crying. He meant a lot to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for an America we have to keep fighting for.”
