For Nicke Smith, building the next chapter at DeSoto goes beyond what happens on the court. It’s about making sure the athletes — and the entire school — have a platform to be seen.

“They want to be at any platform that can help promote not only the athletic program but the school. DeSoto is all for it, and I’m totally behind that.”

With the support of DeSoto behind him, Smith wants that visibility to extend across the Eagles’ programs and help create something bigger throughout the school. And when it comes to where he believes DeSoto basketball is headed, there’s no hesitation.

“We’re gonna run the state.”

And the legacy he hopes people associate with this new chapter five years from now?

“Legend.”

DeSoto Basketball brought its trademark edge to the Boss League, putting together a team highlight reel packed with athleticism, pressure and playmaking across the floor.

The Eagles continue to sharpen their chemistry against strong DFW competition and show why this is a program with high expectations heading into the season. DeSoto has plenty of weapons, and the Boss League offered another glimpse of what this group can bring.

2028 DeSoto standout King Taylor gave college coaches another reason to keep his name on the radar during GASO weekend.

Taylor brings intriguing size and athleticism to the floor, using his 6’5” frame to attack, finish around the rim and impact possessions in multiple ways. With plenty of time still ahead in his high school career, the young DeSoto prospect continues to develop his game and show the upside that makes him one to follow in the 2028 class.

Another talented piece coming through a loaded DeSoto program with a chance to make a major jump over the next few years.

DeSoto Basketball brought a loaded group to GASO weekend, with a team mix giving a look at the talent, athleticism and playmaking running throughout the Eagles’ roster.

DeSoto played with speed and aggression, putting pressure on the rim, creating in the open floor and using its athleticism to disrupt possessions defensively. With weapons throughout the lineup and different guys capable of taking over stretches, the Eagles showed why there’s plenty for college coaches to evaluate within this group.

Another opportunity for DeSoto’s talent to take center stage as the Eagles continue building toward the season ahead.

Cameras caught plenty of DeSoto Basketball at GASO weekend, and the Eagles looked every bit like a program with talent coming from all over the roster.

DeSoto has no shortage of guys who can make something happen. The Eagles played above the rim, turned open-floor opportunities into highlights and showed the kind of versatility that makes this group difficult to match up with. From the guards to the frontcourt, there were prospects making their presence felt throughout the weekend.

Another strong look at a DeSoto program that continues producing players worth knowing on the recruiting trail.
