Part 3- students wrote Christmas cards, stuffed the stockings and delivered. The students loved making others happy and taking pictures. We had a lot of smiles and hugs and even a few tears of joy! #CBI
Part 2 - Shopping for a person they are thankful for. Students picked a person, filled out an adapted shopping list, and went to dollar tree. Students shopped, waited patiently in line, and paid for their purchase. Students did great being safe and communicating. #CBI
First Community Based Instruction trip was a success! Part 1 - Going to Zaxby’s for lunch. Students placed their orders using their words or a picture board. Our students were highly successful! Next step: students using manners and paying. #CBI
Community Based Instruction that incorporates community service, job skills, and collaboration. Our students are so excited to be joining the Bread for Life Community Food Pantry in bringing much needed resources to our local community! I can’t wait to continue this partnership!
Our chow wagon has officially opened for the 24-25 school year! We have added a written menu, individual designated jobs, and communication board! Lots of additions but to see our students use independent living skills and applying them is something we are all proud of!
I have the most amazing paraprofessionals and high school students who put in the effort everyday! I am so blessed with ladies who never see the disability but the abilities of all of our kiddos! #workbasedlearning
We spent our last day with our student worker celebrating all of his hard work and upcoming graduation. Next year will look differently without Mr. Carson! We are looking forward to welcoming Ms. Owens this fall!
We are so thankful for the work based experience that placed Carson in our classroom! He has made this year memorable and most importantly made a lasting impact on the students and teachers. He is destined for an amazing future! I’m just glad our paths crossed!
As apart of our Autism Awareness Week, we celebrated by completing random acts of kindness calendars. After students turned them in, they got a small prize and were in the running for a Walmart gift card. Congratulations Ryker on winning and being kind always!
Community Based Instruction Day #3- Daynabrook Farms was paired with some gorgeous weather! Our students enjoyed every second of it from exploring the greenhouse to enjoying all the outdoor equipment to picking their own strawberries! This is one we have to do again!
Community based instruction Day #2 - exploring our local public library! We experienced amazing activities and learned about all the things they have to offer! We have some amazing places and people in our own community!
Another amazing salad bar set up, prepared, and sold by the students. Students are growing with their knife skills, adding more items (egg and pulled chicken), and becoming proficient with teamwork and communication during set up!
Recognizing and celebrating our student worker, Carson, was awesome! The relationship he has created with our elementary MSD students is nothing short of phenomenal! We are so proud of his accomplishments especially signing with Campbellsville University!
