Love how @Blue_Footy always call it as it is. Defense deserves the same ambition as the attack .
This is wisdom we can't keep patching defense while over spending on attack . Salute @Blue_Footy ππ
My point is, despite how much I trust the project and the SDs, it's still obvious we have a burning desire to improve the attack rather than the defence, like the early 2000s Real Madrid.
We are talking about Garnacho and Simons when we have issues at the back. From the beginning, I didn't see the need for the two players, let alone now that we have lost Colwill and need a similar profile as a replacement.
We have numbers at the back which is true but they mostly don't fit how Maresca plays. For example, if Badiashile is an attacker and not fit for Maresca's style, he would've been sold or put on the transfer list. We upgrade the attack every chance we get but hesitate to do the same at the back. That's the difference.
I'm not saying we should keep buying unnecessarily but we need to start moving unsuitable defenders and bringing in the right profile for Maresca. We want to patch up in defence but buy the best in attack. It should be balanced. Even injury prone Fofana doesn't have a backup, Maresca managed to coach and get Chalobah to do it to a reasonable level but we can't keep patching it up.
The defence is as important as the attack. We need to have that mindset.
