Speaker Johnson needs to bring the House back IMMEDIATELY to vote on a War Powers Resolution.
Anything less is a cowardly dereliction of duty.
Failure to act means:
Rep. Pat Ryan: "If I hear one more chickenhawk who's never served a single day in uniform sitting in a gold-plated office in DC or in Mar-a-Lago or anywhere else, try to talk tough, having never seen what war is about, I'm gonna lose my mind"
I served two combat tours in Iraq. I’ve seen what happens when a lying, chicken-hawk President beats the war drums, more than willing to send our kids off to die in the Middle East but unable to articulate why.
Come for @ConnerHKnapp’s brutal analysis of the Congressional Baseball Game and my attempt to get @ArianFoster on our flag football team.
Stay for me telling @PFTCommenter about what it was like watching my Giants beat the Pats in the Super Bowl while deployed in Iraq.
In the Army, we pledge to leave no one behind.
Trump is CHOOSING to leave 42 million Americans behind – letting kids, veterans, and seniors go hungry.
I’m asking every American to demand the President release SNAP funding immediately.
Pete Hegseth is a f*cking joke. Every day he stays in this job puts more of our troops’ lives at risk.
My constituents shouldn’t be spending a dollar of their hard-earned money on his salary.
Truly appreciated the visit to Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York today from @RepPatRyanNY (NY-19) and Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Torres. Pat took the time to make a nice mention of my departure from public service on the floor of Congress on April 7th. Today he presented me with his gracious and humbling remarks. The congressman is a good friend and we don’t have to agree on all things “politics” to respect one another for seeking ways to improve the lives of our constituents. I’ve always respected public servants who have the courage of their convictions to make difficult decisions without factoring in which way the wind blows. We both owe a lot to our Alma Mater, USMA, for instilling trait in us. #DutyHonorCountry 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
It’s going to take time to sort through what happened Tuesday. But I've read a lot of takes the past few days (some good, many bad), and I've had a lot of people ask how I won one of the toughest districts in the country by over 13%.
Here are some thoughts: 🧵
In #NY18, incumbent Pat Ryan (D/WFP) leads Alison Esposito (R/C), who in '22 ran for Lt. Gov on Lee Zeldin's ticket, by over 13%: https://t.co/NNhLxt2ENw
Folks nationally, especially those in New York, should take note of how @PatRyanUC ran this cycle.
This will go down as one of the most extraordinary campaigns any Democrat ran in 2024.
My opponent wouldn’t dare stand up to her party – her loyalty is to big donors and Donald Trump.
The only flag I pledge allegiance to is the one I wore on my shoulder in combat, and my only loyalty is to the Hudson Valley families I took an oath to serve.
You might think it’s some winning own-the-libs politics to mock efforts to clean up the Hudson and protect people from getting cancer by corporate polluters, but believe it or not normal people like when elected officials care about them.
Have a great day and vote @PatRyanUC!
More free.
More safe.
More affordable.
More bedtime stories and living room wrestling matches.
I’m Pat Ryan and that’s the Hudson Valley community I want my two young boys to grow up in.
You want to piss off the American people? Take their Freedom away.
As long as these extremists continue their campaign to rip away reproductive rights, we’ll continue our fight to protect them.
not kidding at all when I say that the model that Doug Emhoff is setting for men to be powerfully, joyfully supportive of their spouses will have lasting cultural implications
