#BloomfieldHills, Telegraph Rd, 1975-2024. 20 mi. north of #Detroit. Former Teamster's boss Jimmy Hoffa's Pontiac was found at the Machus Red Fox restaurant in 1975. His lunch with mob pals 50 years ago never happened, and he was never seen again. With most of the participants gone, the world will likely never know definitively what happened, though multiple theories abound. The Machus Red Fox closed in 1996, later becoming Andiamo's Italian steak house, which it remains to this day.

Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)" is the nation's top R&B single. He lived in northwest Detroit on West Outer Drive near Livernois at the time.

On this day in 1975:
"The Scene" debuts on WGPR-TV 62.
The weekday afternoon dance show is one of the first regularly scheduled broadcasts to air on the newly-launched Black-owned television station, the first of its kind in America.

October 1974: In front of sparse crowd of 4,671 and record cold temps of 29 degrees, Al Kaline ends his run as #MrTiger.

Due to a sore shoulder, Al takes himself out of the game after 2 at-bats causing a near riot from the fans when they see Ben Oglivie pinch hit.

October 1978: 1255 people submit names for the new Detroit #Pistons dance team. Steven Shilcosky’s walks away with the grand prize of season tickets with the winning name. The Classy Chassis.

On October 2, 1974, dad said farewell to the game he loved playing for most of his life. A total of 4,671 were on hand for the last game of the season and, without fanfare, his +21 year career as a player came to an end. @tigers @BallySportsDET @ErnieHarwell1 @IffyTheDopester

Oct 1972: Mt Clemens collision shop owner Don Thibodeaux constructs a 10-ft 900-lb Tiger and drops it at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull.

The public turns on Don after about a week when he puts the Tiger up for sale at the exorbitant amount of $130k.

Sept 1979: After 40 years of gracing the landing at Fisher’s 666 on Lothrup, statue thieves run off with the 6 foot tall 250 pound Venus leaving no clues.
