3x BIG3 MVP Joe Johnson returns to lead Detroit alongside former Defensive Player of the Year Corey Brewer and former Rookie of the Year Nasir Core.

The Detroit Amps add more firepower, signing 1-on-1 sensation and former Rookie of the Year Nas Core as co-captain after his exit from the Chicago Triplets.
GameAbove Continues Detroit Youth Sports Initiative with Donation to Leveling the Playing Field 🏀
GameAbove visited Leveling the Playing Field in Detroit to deliver a case of Detroit Amps basketballs for under-resourced schools across metro Detroit.
Building on last week’s support at David Ellis Academy–West, this donation will reach multiple schools and hundreds of young athletes — removing barriers, sparking participation, and empowering more kids to play and compete.
Investing in Detroit’s Future, One Basketball at a Time 🏀
GameAbove, in partnership with the Detroit Police Athletic League, visited David Ellis Academy–West to donate Detroit Amps and GameAbove–branded basketballs to the next generation of student–athletes.
The visit brought together leaders dedicated to Detroit’s youth sports community, including PAL Chief Executive Director Fred Hunter, Head Coach Brian Autry, and eighth–grade team captain Christian Miller, whose passion for the game inspires his teammates.
Moments like this highlight the teamwork, discipline, and leadership that drive Detroit’s youth sports community — and reflect our commitment at GameAbove to helping young athletes grow, compete, and thrive.
When it comes to deep range, nobody does it like Jeremy Pargo, the man who owns the BIG3 record for most 4-pointers in one season. Cold-blooded from long distance. ❄️💣
NBA Legends Inspire the Next Generation at Eastern Michigan University 🏀
George Gervin and Rick Mahorn stopped by to watch EMU basketball practice before meeting with the men’s and women’s athletic programs — sharing stories, advice, and lessons from their journeys in the NBA.
The day wrapped up with a team dinner at Chop House, where student-athletes connected personally with the legends, asked questions, and shared their own experiences.
Moments like these reflect what GameAbove stands for: creating opportunities that help EMU students grow, lead, and achieve greatness — on the court and beyond.
Welcome Back to the D, Coach Mahorn.
A Detroit legend — NBA Champion, BIG3 Champion, and one of the original Bad Boys. Rick Mahorn built his legacy on toughness, leadership, and winning at every level. Now, he brings that same championship mindset to the Detroit Amps.
After a legendary career, Coach George “The Iceman” Gervin announces his retirement.
A Hall of Famer, 9x All-Star, and one of the greatest scorers ever — Coach brought Detroit grit and wisdom to the sidelines of our inaugural BIG3 season.
Thank you for everything, Iceman. 🧊
