@justahaloguy That and m’dama was set up really nicely as an opposing anatagonist for 343’s eras of games. Personally if they had removed the didact and focused on him and cortana’s rampancy subplot I think it’d make for a stronger game.
I think a misstep was made with making it grander
@justahaloguy Would have to go with Karen traviss, no disrespect to the other authors but it seems like she’s the only one who really wanted to provide tough questions to a lot of the established lore in a thoughtful way (the dubious nature of the Spartan program and human elite alliance)
@KounterMaze@justahaloguy Considering the immediate response from Xbox/343 was give conflicting stories as to how old the build was and subsequently how quickly they delayed afterwards and it’s certainly a key factor
@justahaloguy@ReactionaryLuma I would posit at the very least the first two kilo-five books and the forerunner trilogy if you want to get an idea to half of the story of 4 (the terminals do a somewhat ok job but even that’s debatable and still omits a ton)
@Vaporwave_07@SamLund0811 It feels like we’re watching necromancy in real time, I get people feeling that plot points or characters were discard without care but you can’t just keep hand waving it away. It’s just breeds stagnancy writing wise.
@Goosewasinuse I do think there is a point to be made especially since a lot of the villainy attributed to Paul is only really explored in dune’s sequels.
Given the context of good emperor of dune with the golden path and humanity potential extinction it’s hard to just say Paul: bad/good
@HoomanGremMitch@FavynTube The bigger issue is how due there being THREE Spartans lasers spawned on map the game devolves into who can target the other teams vehicles first. After that it’s just a squash match for the team.
@VincentGat It’s kinda interesting that it seems to have fallen for the same issue of anniversary with an updated environment and graphics but tons of asset flips
@G_Rich_0402@Soul_ant19 His “prowess” isn’t really established as anything unique when his squad mates like Alice leading and winning a gurellia campaign against the banished or Douglas success on hijacking a scarab.
Again it sees to come down to very weak similarity between chief & Cortana.
@Soul_ant19 I'm sure they're gearing up to something big with the endless (if they even bother to commit to it), but personally I don't think they'll ever top the plot escalation of the Ark on H3 (even if they insist upon it with the endless being immune) so lower stakes would be better.
@Soul_ant19 Personally I'm not sure if any Spartan could fill in for Chief, the entire premise of Jerome taking over seems to come down to that one cutscene on the super carrier with Isabel.
With how the plot is I reckon it would be as an athology ala ODST.
@BanannaSlamma64@I__HATE_SOCCER@noofzoofz As whilst she did instil good values in him he’s followed them religiously to the point when others point out his flawed view that no one should die he has no retort.
@BanannaSlamma64@I__HATE_SOCCER@noofzoofz To an extent, it also however deconstructs vash’s views to show the consequences of his actions I mean nearly every gun o’ gun points this out to him.
Additionally a big part of vash’s development is letting go of Rem’s influence and ideals he’s carried on after her death -
@I__HATE_SOCCER@noofzoofz It’s why I loved the anime depiction of his fight with Legato Bluesummers since it’s the best scene that really challenges vash’s no kill policy as sure he’s fine with being maimed or killed but Geniunely cannot reconcile this with his desire to protect others.
@I__HATE_SOCCER@noofzoofz Trigun is a really amazing story but I wouldn’t say it heavily endorses pacifism when Vash and those around him are repeatedly punished for his idealism and whilst Vash is fine with toll that comes with (losing pieces of his body) he still suffers from the loss of life around him
