This afternoon, I officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for Kidepo International Airport in Karenga District.
I reminded the wananchi that Karamoja has come a long way from the days of insecurity, cattle rustling and lawlessness. The restoration of peace has created the conditions for the Karamoja region to develop.
The airport will improve access to Kidepo Valley National Park, boost tourism, attract investors, create jobs for our young people and expand markets for local products. Already, more than 1,600 Ugandans are employed on the project.
I thank our partners from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates for recognizing the immense opportunities that exist in Uganda and Africa.
.@qataharraymond: During the NRM primaries, AAA was very instrumental in who won the NRM primaries. She has her own political powerbase as the speaker and the second National Vice Chairperson.

I witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and operational licence agreement between the Uganda Communications Commission and Starlink, marking an important step towards the commencement of their operations in Uganda.
Our interest is security, revenue assurance, and proper accountability within the telecommunications sector so that we know who is operating and who the customers are. I am pleased that Starlink has agreed to comply with Ugandaβs laws and regulatory requirements as it prepares to begin service delivery in the country. I wish them good luck.
Nairobi becomes the convening point for one of the most consequential conversations for Africa in this generation. More than 30 Heads of States, coming together to discuss 7 agenda themes with 1 vision - Taking #AfricaFoward.
We have spent months working to ensure that when the world comes to Nairobi on 11 and 12th May, Africa arrives as a continent with a clear vision of its priorities, and the partners committed to advancing them alongside us.
This is a Summit of substance, one with the potential to define a new chapter in Africaβs global engagement.

Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Habaari. Greetings to all of you.
Of recent, I have noticed a lot of orwaari (noise, kelele), regarding the Sovereignty Bill. Which Sovereignty Bill is the rwaari about? The one I initiated in the Cabinet or another one? The Bill will stop FDIs (Foreign Direct Investments), support for religious bodies from abroad, Remittances from Ugandans working abroad, etc., etc. Really!! That is not the Bill I initiated.
Below is clarification on what I initiated.
