@TheHackersNews@sygnia These low effort AI generated images are getting so old and tiresome that I am greatly tempted each time I see one to ignore whatever it is that's being discussed.
I'm sure you have your own internal metrics for such things, but I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
@cyb3rops Zero sympathy for Anthropic. You can't go around bragging about how dangerous your model is without some bureaucrats deciding to take you at your word. And we all know Anthropic's comments were marketing hype to hide being compute poor.
Iโve had the privilege of working with @ustayready for a few years now. Nobody should have to carry this weight alone. Please consider donating:

God bless this family.
@HackingDave Wow. That's pretty massive. I wonder how much Anthropic being compute poor at any given time plays into this. Hard to know these days how much is intentional to drive usage to the newer, more expensive model.
I'll forego conspiracy at this point, but I appreciate the data.
@HackingDave The distance you need to travel is much larger than people think in order to make flying more efficient than driving. Flying will always have a place, but the time spent in the air is like the smallest part of the experience.
@HackingDave I let the hose run until the water was cold back in the day. We called that letting the water get "fresh". It also let you use the first few seconds to spray whichever of your buddies was closest.
@HackingDave The infuriating thing is that many of these organizations don't have any plans to truly cut headcount. They're using AI as cover for the layoffs while quietly bringing in large quantities of cheaper H-1B labor. It's a cynical use of AI to restructure their labor costs.
@iximiuz Important to do, though. Covey spoke about this, but I'm not sure where the story originated.
Resisting the urge while continuing your self development is not only important, it's improving your output over time.

@cyb3rops Agreed. That output isn't just from those who were producing before, though. Now people who have no capability to evaluate that code are being prolific with bad ideas. For security, that's one of the worst aspects of AI: output from those incapable of understanding it.
@HackingDave There are a lot of people doing a lot of great things with AI. However, the vast majority of those tokens are nothing but pointless "projects" that are theater for leadership. This is not sustainable. We all know it. The potential to destroy the economy is higher than ever.
@cyb3rops The issue is that AI used to have a narrow definition as a field in computer science. LLMs fit that definition. As for true intelligence, obviously LLMs don't achieve that.
Most of us in tech have been hearing AI hype for decades, this is just the newest form of it.
