Since the enactment of the RTI Act in 2014, this marks the first time in the history of the Maldives that the President’s Office and all Ministries have achieved 100% compliance with proactive disclosure requirements. Information that had not previously been accessible to the public has now been made available.
Transparency is not merely a policy objective. This administration recognizes the fundamental right to information as a cornerstone of public trust and democratic governance. This is a significant step toward advancing transparency, strengthening public access to information, and increasing accountability.
As we reach this important milestone in our journey toward a more open and accountable government, I commend all institutions and public officials whose dedication made this achievement possible. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing this meaningful work and enhancing public access to government information through digital platforms, ensuring greater civic engagement in government activities and decision-making.

Today, for the first time since the RTI Act was enacted in 2014, the President’s Office and all ministries have proactively disclosed the information required under the Act.
This is a major step for transparency. Two previous administrations failed to fully comply with this legal obligation. President Dr @MMuizzu’s administration has now delivered what should have been done years ago.
Warm congratulations to His Excellency Dr Khalilur Rahman, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, on his election as the President of the 81st session of the #UNGA. I wish you every success in this important role.
I am confident that under your able leadership, the General Assembly will continue to serve as a vital platform for all Member States. This is indeed a proud moment for the people of Bangladesh and the wider region.
Thrilled to welcome the UK's decision to suspend tariffs on Maldivian tuna - effective today! This is a direct win for our fishers, their families, island communities and our processors who have long championed one-by-one fishing as the gold standard of sustainability. Maldivian tuna doesn't just feed the world, it does so responsibly, one fish at a time. Today, that commitment gets the recognition it deserves in one of our most important markets.
Deep gratitude to HE President Dr. @Mmuizzu for his unwavering leadership in elevating our fisheries sector on the global stage. I would also like to thank all stakeholders including our industry partners both in Maldives and UK for the continuous effort in making this a reality. 🇲🇻🇬🇧
I warmly welcome the United Kingdom’s decision to suspend tariffs on tuna imports effective 20th May 2026.
This important development will support British consumers while delivering meaningful benefits to the Maldives’ fisheries sector, strengthening fishermen’s incomes, supporting island livelihoods, and expanding opportunities for sustainably caught Maldivian tuna in the UK market.
The Maldives is globally recognised for its world-leading pole-and-line tuna industry and its commitment to responsible and sustainable fishing practices. This milestone reflects the close partnership between the Maldives and the UK and the importance both countries place on sustainable trade and economic resilience.
I thank the UK Government and all partners who contributed to this positive step forward for our fishermen and our economy. 🇲🇻🇬🇧
Congratulations to all the graduates of the second batch of National Service programme!

Relentlessly targeting someone out of personal dislike, while spreading unverified and false claims, is not press freedom. Baseless and defamatory allegations against the President or any individual should be properly investigated, with appropriate action taken to uphold justice. Undermining the dignity of any person, especially the highest office, ultimately undermines the dignity of the nation itself.
