@KrittRTV He’ll take over games again soon enough. It’s Jack we’re talking about here. And yes I agree hopefully noticing him less means the team is playing well

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

We’re really doing this again

People said the same thing last season. Something is up with him.

He has 12 points in 11 games during his “mediocre” start. We all know he’s gonna really turn it up at some point. Can we just chill

[Rasid Becirovic @RasidB]

Honestly...people cannot tell me they are seeing the same Jack Hughes that we saw during the second half last season. He's just a mediocre player outta there right now. Something is up with him. #NJDevils

[NHL Watcher @NHL_Watcher]

Friedman on Headlines says Canes wanted Hellebuyck badly; issue was the Jets wanted a NHL ready forward back and they weren’t willing to part with a Stankoven or a Jarvis. They tried to see what forwards on other teams the Jets were interested in and tried to trade for them.

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

@daniel_amoia I love him

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

Did that really happen earlier today..

Talk about out of no where

[New Jersey Devils @NJDevils]

Forever our day one Dawg.

Thank you for everything you did in a Devils sweater, Dawson, and best of luck in Winnipeg.

Cheveldayoff: “When Sunny [Mehta] got serious, he got serious real quick. It was a real treat to deal with him, he’s very straight forward. There was no beating around the bush.” #NJDevils

For those who didn’t even want the Devils to pick in the 2026 draft, those who were begging to trade the first round pick..

I guess this moment is for you

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

Final trade details

To Winnipeg: Dawson Mercer, Nico Daws, Alexander Command and Nick Bjugstad plus 2027 7th round pick and 2029 2nd round pick

To NJ: Connor Hellebuyck..

It wasn’t cheap. Alexander Command is the big piece here, the Devils had to part ways with their 2026 12th overall pick just months after drafting him

Winnipeg fans will enjoy Dawson Mercer, I don’t wanna downplay him. He is there to help their forward depth and he will definitely do that. Hes a solid middle 6 guy, Winnipeg can definitely use someone like him

Other pieces were less significant.
Nico Daws is pretty unknown but I’d say he’s likely to end up as an nhl backup. Bjugstad is kinda a throw in, makes the cap work and gives Winnipeg another forward option, NJ has no space for him. And a future 2nd and 7th round pick, no issue with that at all. NJ kept all their firsts

A lot of this trade rides on Alexander Command..

I’m fired up that Connor Hellebuyck is a New Jersey Devil

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

Dawson Mercer is a weird one

Someone who had his best play in his rookie year / year 2, but never really seemed to grow much after that. I’d say most devils fans are pretty much fine with him going in this trade

Always solid, good effort good forechecker. Definitely has skill but maybe not enough skill to become a normal top 6 guy. He was good as a complementary third guy

Great guy, of course was drafted by us so it makes it a bit more emotional to see him go. I wish him the best and will always root for him

[Devils Insiders @DevilsInsiders]

We're told NONE of the Draft picks are 1st rounders.

Go off, Sunny.

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

Grits stayed, Yegorov stayed, Lenni stayed.

Command is the price you pay, but I can live with it. I’m happy

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

Alexander Commands Devils career

**Breaking News** 🚨 📰
Per sources I can report @NHLJets are trading Hellebuyck to @NJDevils for Daws, Mercer, Command 2 future picks, and another forward. #HockeyX

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

All respect to Dawson here, but I won’t lose sleep over him / daws / the first

Command is interesting.. let’s see the final details

[Kevin Weekes @KevinWeekes]

Per sources, I’m told some of the names being discussed in a potential Hellebucyk
trade with @NJDevils include ; Daws, Mercer, Command, and potential 1st.
All above remains fluid, as nothing in stone yet.. #HockeyX

Winnipeg having bad offers up until now gives me hope that MAYBE they are settling a bit here

Now even if they are settling Helle is gonna be pricey. But maybe Sunny waited for his moment and got a steal. That’s what I’m hoping for

[Emily Kaplan @emilymkaplan]

The New Jersey Devils are closing in on a deal for Connor Hellebuyck, per sources.

As of this weekend, Winnipeg felt it had terrible offers for the goalie but things seemed to have progressed last night. Believe Jets have been focused on scorers in return.

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

Life is canceled, time to sit on my phone all day and wait for the trade deals

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

@papiblez No shot

[Devils Red Alert @DevilsRedAlert]

I genuinely have no idea what to expect here with this trade

Goalies generally get less, and there was the whole suspension and Helle forcing his way out. Does that impact that return?

And what are most likely pieces

Mercer? Yegorov? Lenni? Devils have an extra first this year..
