This is why Carolina continues to dominate this team. NJ has the ceiling to create moments, but lacks the consistent floor to remove the spurts of play where the fundamentals of structured play disintegrate.

Pair micro-level shift length fatigue & bad changes with macro-level over-reliance on available players during the injury wave & we have a recipe for poor hockey - opponents just had to wait for NJD to beat itself.

1) They allow a lot of shots (3rd fewest)
2) They allow a lot of xGs (7th fewest)
3) The allow odd-man rushes (3rd fewest)
4) They allow a lot of defensive zone time (4th least)
