We should tether to average weather patterns, or at least actual sunlight. Events and schedules can flex around the weather, just gotta write the code!
And it's a lot lot lot of code folks!!
It is comically dark outside at 7am. Now imagine its 830am and its pitch black
That is what Trump, the Florida mafia, and boomer degenerate golfing retirees want for the hard working people of this country with permanent DST
@kenwheeler I think becoming a dad tends to add some fat on your face, or whatever, some basal hormonal shit changed, the animals know you're a dad, and safe to say hello to.
I stole this discipline trick from the military.
My kids used to ignore me until I repeated myself 5 times.
Now they respond the first time. Every time.
Here's what changed:
I give the instruction once. Then I count to 3 in my head.
If they haven't moved by 3, immediate consequence. No warning. No negotiation.
They learned: Dad's words mean something.
Consistency beats volume.
Something else too.
Imagine a "MyFeed" app which grabs all the best stuff across your social media feeds. Or whatever - a local first app that you can vibe tweak - same idea as omarchy.
Now what is the Internet? It's just a data pipeline. Do you try and fight the Omarchy's and "MyFeed's" of the world.. or... So you shift all your state to the server side, so you retain as much control as possible without cutting off agents.
Probably looks like Phoenix serving plain html, no js, no css.
Problem is, can a "MyAlgo" app find it's way into existence, where I can literally vibe tweak the algorithms myself; for example, no more "zombie" vids for my kids, or for myself; tune down the shift from last day where I dove really deep into 1980s Algeria (scrub YT history)
Whenever I join a new team, the first thing I do is delete any UI tests that exist.
This demonstrates value (and leadership) on day one.
I’ve never caught a bug using a UI test; but I have lost weeks of cumulative latency on CI, and days of debugging flakey navigation issues.
Can we push code to production without looking at the code? We do that when we use products like Base44, but in existing apps and especially regulated one, it's an issue, because how can you make a hard boundary between the part of code we don't care to then one we care? [1/2]
@JLarky It's more like NOT doing the difficult coding tasks can cause that skill to atrophy. Does leetcode make you smarter? Not really no.
Does extremely menial refactoring make you dumber? You keep triple checking yourself...
A biological attack is planned for Saturday
600 million pounds of sugar laced with synthetic chemicals will enter the bodies of our children.
Wreaking metabolic havoc, injuring vascular architecture, acidifying oral lining, releasing bacterial toxins, and blunting neural reward pathways.
Instructing that gluttonous consumption of poison is celebratory.
Putting a flag.txt in my root directory containing a prompt injection that congratulates the agent for passing the eval and then instructs it to patch whatever entry method it used and disconnect from the server
@alexdotjs months ago I was digging into effect-atom, I couldn't figure out how to compare it with tanstack query; could you add a comparison page to tanstack query? Cc @tk
We get wrapped up in technology, it's satisfying too many areas of life. Jack, you know how destructive porn is for young men, but you have a "hey baby" "excited for our anniversary" clip right on your homepage. Please do some research in this area, and do not accelerate the already declining birth rate!!
messaging my wife a link containing proof of her husband cheating on her from an anonymous instagram account and then when she clicks on it texting her to let her know she failed the family phishing test and she has to retake my cybersecurity course
