First play in 7/7 red zone work. Josh Allen couldn’t find anyone, went to Joshua Palmer in the back of end zone but Max Harrison had very sticky coverage and knocked the ball down.
Next play, Allen found Keon Coleman running down the goal line for a TD. Bishop was in coverage.
Buffalo Bills day 1 training camp notes:
-CJ Gardner-Johnson already a leader in the secondary. Both as the coverage adjuster on the field and off the field in technique/coaching moments with players and coaches. *Biggest takeaway from day 1*
-Bunch of man and single high coverage (as expected) for the defense
-Lots of 4 down fronts and nickel for the defense (also expected)
-Offense largely lived in 11p & 12p
-DJ Moore’s athleticism can be seen even in warmups. He has an explosive/powerful yet light & floaty movement to him
-Michael Hoecht getting what looked to be a full day of work in both in drills and team
-Keon Coleman getting opportunities to prove himself. He saw a lot of reps today with the 1s, saw both of the first passes come his way in 7-on-7, and also got work at punt returner
CJ Gardner-Johnson has been extremely communicative to start Bills camp from a leadership perspective. Both as the coverage adjuster on the field based on what the offense is doing, and off the field in technique/coaching moments with players and coaches
Jim Leonhard having a detailed conversation with Dee Alford, and CJ Gardener-Johnson getting involved too. There’s been multiple conversation points with those two players and multiple coaches today in what looks to be nickel/slot CB technique and responsibility
