@DrewMitrisin Love that downtown OP is embracing mixed use so much. Will be moving into ward 1 from ward 2 (sorry Drew) soon.
Hopefully being near downtown will help fill that retail space. I’m unsure why but mixed use outside of downtown that I’ve seen struggles in that regard.
@DrewMitrisin I agree we need more dense housing and a variety of it, as well as more mixed use. That’s why I’m disappointed in such a prime spot there’s something going up that will not benefit the community at all.
@DrewMitrisin Drew, I live in ward 2 and am disappointed that a Kia dealership is going up right next to where I live. Car dealerships on Metcalf is my biggest gripe with living in this area. I’d like more walkability, a dealership does nothing for me.
Do you know how this got approved?
@tylernrains Though there is a real problem with the resale market as Joe pointed out, especially when they use bots. But that’s also not exclusive to music. Look at the computer hardware market. New graphics card comes out and scalpers buy in bulk and resell.
@tylernrains The problem is really mostly with big name pop artists with cult followings where people are willing to pay crazy numbers. I don’t see this with my favorite musicians.
@TheElderMemes@asimovite I’ve played so much I have it memorized😂
Don’t ever touch the right most button. Just 2nd from the right until the 3rd one opens, hit it twice then hit the final button
@mhtalbut@MarkMaxwellTV I think there’s this fugazi idea that Republican = good for economy, Democrat = bad for economy. And people tend to vote more on the economy than social issues.
@DrewMitrisin@DowntownOP Is there anything that can be done about the number of car dealerships in that area? Especially east of Metcalf.
Having huge lots of unowned cars around a prime downtown location seems like poor land use.
@JazHays@Kylesfunhavings I know it’s probably not the same budget pool but you get what I mean. Stuff like that is actually wasting money. This will improve the city.
@JazHays@Kylesfunhavings Missouri is spending $2.8 billion on a highway widening project, even though adding more lanes has been empirically proven not to reduce traffic.
I’d say we start with cutting that. This project starts to fix one of KC’s biggest problems: the highways that destroyed the city.
@chris_stritzel I don’t see what was so bad about your tweet. I agree walks are a fantastic way to learn more about the area you live.
It’s a shame suburbs are often built in a way that’s hostile to walking, especially around Metcalf where I live. But the city is making a push to fix that.
@RepMoulton Lifting the burden of car ownership on people also puts more money in their pocket. No longer having to pay for insurance, repairs, car payments, etc.
@ShuttletrainTED @kclightrail @Emissourian Are you going to talk about this too? There’s always money for highways, but god forbid we invest in transit.
Plus widening highways has been proven to be ineffective at reducing traffic due to induced demand. This is lighting money on fire.
