Rockstar shared new details about the security measures they’re using to protect GTA 6:
- They adopt the security measures of a Wall Street bank
- They also compared protecting their unique gameplay and design to Apple protecting the iPhone or Coke protecting its formula
- All visitors to Rockstar’s offices must sign NDAs, and any contractors working on site are escorted
- Remote working for employees is severely restricted
- Flash drives / USB keys and other external storage devices are banned
- Photography at work is strictly forbidden
- Employees’ personal laptops, tablets and phones are blocked from connecting to the Rockstar systems
- Rockstar staff can’t disclose confidential information even to family members
- Privacy films were installed on the company’s buildings after fans used drones to try to peek inside the offices
- They employ a full-time team of 5 investigators and a director to monitor for and investigate potential data leaks, as employees face phishing and social engineering attacks
Creators who visited the company in July to preview the game even had to enter the building through a back door to prevent leaks, and they had to leave their electronics
