Tomorrow (26/10/24) is the SDR Explorer on the @southdevonrly. After a lot of work from the DDS team we can announce that D2246 will be taking part! Its first trip is 14:55 from Buck double heading with D3721.
It’s almost time for our first beer festival of the year. Between the 24th and 27th of May we will be holding our Beer Festival at Staverton Station on the @southdevonrly. All proceeds go to the up keep and restoration of our locomotives!
Merry Christmas to all of our followers and supporters! Here’s a present to you all, our completed generator for D402s power unit. 2024 holds even more excitement with lots of work to be done! As always if you feel you can make a donation out PayPal is https://t.co/TArR3J7faT.
Although the Twitter page has been very quiet this year, a lot of work has been going on. Updates for each loco will be in the below thread. If you would like to contribute to the upkeep and restoration of the locos, you can via our PayPal. https://t.co/TArR3J7N0r
And now, 50002 or D402. For those on our Facebook you will already know, for those that aren’t the engine is making and has made fantastic progress with the list getting gradually smaller. Progress on the loco is also continuing well at buckfastleigh. #class50#diesel
Next is 37037 or 6737. The 37 has been on the back burner whilst work on the 04 and 50 has been going on. However one of the members started work cleaning and painting the No.1 end nose internally and window surrounds. Work will continue as and when time allows #class37#diesel
Happy New Year to all our followers. Thank you for all your continued support! Here’s to 2023 and all it brings! It’s already off to an exciting start with D2246 undertaking successful test runs. (Wasp stripes are on the to do list when the weather allows)
Thursday 2nd of June to Sunday the 5th June 2022 sees the return of our Beer Festival held at Staverton station @southdevonrly . All proceeds go to the restoration of D402, D6737 and D2246. We hope to see you there!
1000 followers! As a way to say thank you, here is something exciting D2246 has broken cover from the paint shops. Still more work to do and the radiator to be returned but the end is in site. A massive thank you to the @southdevonrly volunteers who have helped us with it.
D2246 Work today consisted of grinding down the worst affected areas on the bonnet, followed by a light sanding all over, then the bare metal sprayed with a bare metal primer, and then finished off with the first coat of grey undercoat.
@ArkroyalDavis @YouTube The power unit is at a private engineering firm in Plymouth for overhaul, it will return once completed, however there’s no time scale put on it. Once all done you’ll have to get some haulage in!!
As it’s coming up to a year since the engine lift, heres some footage taken on the day, feel free to check it out! Class 50 D402 Engine Lift 27/02/20 https://t.co/aBOiUvBEpv via @YouTube
