🌍On Tuesday, we celebrated World Social Work Day 2026 to honour the incredible and vital impact of social workers across the globe.
The theme this year was: “Co‑Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society.” Inspired by the African philosophy of “pulling together”, it’s a reminder that even in a fractured world, unity, solidarity, and community action can spark real change.

Some of the topics discussed included:
⭐️Zebra – exploring solution‑focused practice and strengths‑based approaches to working together.
⭐️COLAB – shining a spotlight on the vital work they lead across communities.
⭐️Wellbeing / Vivup – supporting staff resilience and wellbeing.
⭐️Family Rights Group – deepening understanding of working effectively with families.

🚢 Devon’s Hidden Role in the Mayflower Story 🌍
Many people know the tale of the Mayflower’s 1620 voyage—but far fewer realise how vital Devon was in shaping its success.
When the Speedwell began leaking, the Pilgrims diverted to Dartmouth’s Bayard’s Cove for repairs before finally regrouping in Plymouth, Devon, where the Speedwell was abandoned, and the Mayflower made its final preparations for the historic journey to America.
Devon’s harbours were the last safe havens before the Pilgrims set sail into history.
