When every millisecond counts, what would you build?
For decades, @QNX_News has run the systems that can't fail: medical devices, factory floors, robots, and more than 275 million vehicles. Until recently, building on it meant a commercial license. Now QNX 8.0 is free for non-commercial use through QNX Everywhere, and the QNX Global Hackathon has launched with $50,000 in prizes! Register + submit by Dec 15: https://t.co/LVPuKFrhov

Brian Beach builds "Flappy Kiro" live with @kirodotdev on Nov 11 at 10:00 AM PT. Beginner friendly, and a good way to summon some new skills for Kiroween 👻.

Friday's X Space about how to win a hackathon, and I can't stop thinking about it!
These amazing people have run, judged or sponsored hackathons all landed on the same thing...
@colleencodes the demo matters more than the code
@andrewdmaclean start thinking about the presentation early, not 10 minutes before
@hey_amandam tell us a story, then just show us your app
I've been guilty of this. I'd build right up to the deadline, then wonder why a project I was proud of didn't win 😅
If you're building for the @paypaldev hackathon right now:
✅ Write your story before your README
✅ Give one teammate the presentation from day one
✅ Practice your demo with friends and family
What are you building at the moment? Drop it in the comments 👇

I just built and shipped Mirrorcart for the @YouCamApps x @devpost API Hackathon
Online fashion has a dirty secret: we buy blind.
In 2025, US retailers expected 19.3% of online sales to be returned, about $850B in merchandise.
And 61% of shoppers say poor fit is the main reason they send things back.
Fit is a guess and guesses get shipped back.
So I built a fitting room straight into checkout.
How it works:
→ Shop like any other store
→ Fill your cart, then tap "See it on me"
→ Tick the consent box (nothing uploads before you do)
→ Upload one photo, use your camera, or pick a sample model
→ Watch your outfit go on piece by piece: dress, then shoes, then necklace, with each try-on feeding the next
→ Don't like something? Remove it before you pay, and that's a likely return avoided
Two things I refused to compromise on:
- Privacy: your photo is deleted within 24 hours, or right away with one tap
- Respect: your face, hair and head covering stay exactly as you wear them
For shops, it's one script tag plus a dashboard that tracks try-ons, conversions and likely returns avoided.
The whole thing was built with @DevinAI

Today at 12 PM ET (9 AM PT): Build for @specs .

No SPECS hardware needed. Everything runs in the Lens Studio preview. See you there!

Hackathon judges have about 3 minutes with your project.
What actually happens in those 3 minutes? 🤔
I'm hosting an X Space this Friday to find out, with people who have judged, mentored and run hackathons:
@andrewdmaclean Staff Developer Educator at Twilio
@colleencodes Developer Advocate at GitLab
@JamesSwintonDev DevRel Lead at AG Grid
@CCafeo Community at nocodeops by Zapier
@FrancescoCiull4 Head of DevRel at Zerops
@adityaoberai DevRel Lead at Appwrite
⏰ Friday 30 October, 4pm UK (12pm ET / 9am PT)
🎤 Audio only, no camera, no slides
We'll cover judging, demos and the stuff nobody tells you. Like why the project with the best code doesn't always win.
If you've won (or lost) a hackathon, come up and tell us how 👀.
Over 2 weeks remaining on the @paypaldev hackathon with $60k+ cash prizes!
