Skin color and culture have always been linked in every nation for all time. It’s only in modern America where you can have a black man and an Indian woman from LA who are culturally similar. You cannot do that with a Nigerian man and a Pakistani woman.

And if the Nigerian and Pakistani are Christians and get married, Christ can help them overcome their racial/cultural differences.

But should this be viewed as the norm or equal to the harmony of a non-interracial/cultural marriage? Should we say there are no significant differences between these two people that may cause legitimate struggle between them and their extended (often unsaved) families? Of course not.

Visual similarities attract. They always have. That’s why 95% of marriages in history have been between people of the same race. Were they all racists, close-minded bigots? No. They understood that part of honoring their father and mother was, in some degree, carrying on their family’s heritage, including their culture (which was connected to their nation, which was often linked to their skin).

Now, none of this denies Christian unity across peoples but marriage does not operate in isolation. It does not play by the rules of diversity, equality, and inclusion. It chooses (typically and historically) visual and cultural likeness. This is normative and good because it eliminates extra hurdles in marriage in a fallen world.

We often hear passionate emotional speeches and I applaud that, but this is a forensic dismantling of a woman who arrogantly thinks she and the administration she belongs to are above the law. THEY ARE NOT.
