The man accused of fatally stabbing Chipotle worker Jaquoya Wix while she was on her lunch break in Detroit has been charged with first-degree murder.

Devon Jason Watson, 42, reportedly did not know Wix, but the prosecutor said there is “more than enough” evidence to show that Watson planned the attack.

Watson was previously convicted on assault charges in 2010 and 2024. He was also hospitalized for serious mental illness in July but was released weeks before the attack.

The prosecutor stated the mental illness, does not erase accountability. He is held without bond.
