Dearest Colleagues,
As this campaign formally comes to a close, I write with a heart full of gratitude.
Over the past months, I have had the rare privilege of travelling the length and breadth of our country. Today, I am deeply humbled to say that I have met with lawyers in all 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory. Every journey, every branch visit, every town hall, and every conversation has strengthened my belief that the Nigerian Bar Association is ready for a bolder future.
From the bustling commercial centres to our most distant branches, I listened. I learned. I was inspired by your candour, your hopes, your concerns, and your unwavering commitment to our profession. Those conversations have shaped my vision and reinforced my conviction that the NBA must become an Association that truly works for every lawyer.
I thank every Branch, every elder of the Bar, every Young Lawyers Forum, every law officer, every lawyer in private practice, academia, the corporate sector, the Armed Forces, and every colleague who welcomed me with warmth, challenged my ideas, and entrusted me with their aspirations. Your support, your encouragement, and even your hard questions have made this journey worthwhile.
This campaign has never been about me. It has always been about the future of our profession.
It has been about restoring the economic dignity of lawyers. It has been about strengthening our branches, promoting inclusion, expanding opportunities for young lawyers, supporting lawyers across every sphere of practice, and building an NBA that listens before it leads.
That is the promise of A BOLDER BAR THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE.
As campaigning comes to an end, the responsibility now rests with you.
On 18 July 2026, you will determine the direction of our Association for the next two years. I respectfully ask for your support and your vote, not merely for a candidate, but for a shared vision of a Bar that is stronger, more inclusive, more accountable, and firmly committed to putting MEMBERS FIRST.
If entrusted with the privilege of serving as your President, I will lead with integrity, courage, humility, and purpose. I will remain accessible. I will continue to listen. And I will work tirelessly to justify the confidence you place in me.
Thank you for opening your branches, your chambers, your ears and your hearts to me. Thank you for walking this journey with me. It has been one of the greatest honours of my professional life.
May God bless you, bless the Nigerian Bar Association, and guide us as we make this important decision together.
I look forward to serving you.
Yours faithfully,
- Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, FCIArb (Mrs. B)

Drop "hi" and let’s connet
A counsel filed an application for leave and extension of time after their defense has been foreclosed and pleadings closed. I prepared a robust response to the application to get it struck out or dismissed. But later, I decided against opposing the application and I didn’t file my response. That way, they won’t go on appeal to clamour over denial of fair hearing even though they have been given ample time to respond.
My decision saved everybody the stress of fighting over an application that will further waste time of the court and allowed us to focus on the merit of the suit. We need to do more of this to reduce the time cases spend in court due to technical objections.
Wait, so they’re dragging Simi cause she’s speaking out against R@pe???
How does speaking up against r@pe means you’re in support of false rape allegations ??. And it’s men dragging her. The world is a scary place
Little confession…
i enjoy worship wayyyy more than praise.
Like I just want to shut my eyes in deep reverence.. 🥺🙏🏾
Once the minister starts singing slow song, my soul is already filled with joy 🥹
Dancing before God is beautiful, but my preference are slow worship songs ♥️
(Also, I no sabi dance 🙃)
ADORNED WITH THE SILK: A BOLD NEW CHAPTER BEGINS
This journey has been one of resilience, faith, and unyielding dedication. Today, as I humbly stand adorned with the Silk and conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, I do so not just in celebration of personal triumph, but in deep gratitude to all who have been part of this path.
To my mentors who guided me, my family who stood by me, my friends who cheered me on, and every colleague and supporter who believed in me, this honour is as much yours as it is mine. Your encouragement, prayers, and faith have strengthened my resolve and lit the way even in the most challenging moments.
This achievement is living proof that dreams, when BOLDLY pursued with consistency, courage, and God’s grace, truly come to pass. Yet, beyond the celebration, it is also a call to greater service, to wear the Silk with humility, integrity, and purpose in advancing justice and uplifting others.
I step into this new chapter grateful, inspired, and ever committed to the ideals of our noble profession.
Yours truly,
Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN
