Remembering Indrajit Gupta, the father of Indian Parliament, on his death anniversary.

A true stalwart whose entire life was dedicated to the people, Comrade Indrajit was a parliamentarian par excellence, longest serving member of the Lok Sabha, pro tem speaker at many terms and inaugural recipient of the Best Parliamentarian Award.

As Home Minister in the United Front government, he worked tirelessly for national integrity, especially engaging with the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the North East. He also made efforts to initiate far reaching police and electoral reforms.

His leadership of the CPI and AITUC as General Secretary strengthened the organisation and he strived to bring the party closer to the people. He remains an enduring source of inspiration for us.
