@ma1ybe I think the hard part here is that different kinds of violence affect people differently. Women tend to worry more about sexual or partner violence, while men are statistically more likely to experience street violence. Both things exist at the same time.

@LocalBtnMasher The difference is: Fairness allows emergent consequences from consistent rules. Unfairness means those consequences are based on broken/hidden rules. A good design forces you to react or anticipate some RNG, not just be a victim of it.

@LocalBtnMasher You're confusing Fairness with Variance/RNG removal. Fairness in game dev is about Legibility and Consistent Rules. If the player knows the rules and potential outcomes, it's fair. Unfairness is when the game breaks its own rules or hides key info.

@TeamNINJAStudio It is sad to hear about his passing. He helped lead a great studio in creating some legendary experiences. This was unexpected for me.
