Sexism just has no place in our political debate, full stop.
A billboard truck using sexist language has been driving around Melbourne as part of a secret and well-funded political campaign.
People are entitled to disagree with me. That’s democracy.
But I care that this attacks women.
And I care about who’s next.
The political debate in this country has become corrosive over the last few years.
So much so that behaviour which would once have been condemned is now just another part of life.
Media don’t call it out.
They report on this like it’s fair game, like it’s normal.
But nothing about this is normal.
If you don’t take a stand against this creeping culture, it has a tendency of taking over.
You only have to look at America to know that.
I cannot stand back and let Victoria become a place where this sort of language is fair game against any woman at work - or any woman in leadership.
If we don’t draw a line, the line will keep moving.
At the end of the day, I just want my kids to grow up knowing that women deserve the same respect as men.
I want girls to know that they should never need to aim lower just to feel safer.
And I want boys to know that they don’t have to put women ‘in their place’ to make their own way in the world.
Sexism hurts everyone.
If the media won’t call out it, I will.
This is a new classic of the 'twisting reality on its head and shitting brainworms into an entire population' genre. Chris Uhlmann is the idiot's idiot
Nick Maynard: "Let me tell you about Zainab, a 7mth old girl.. we had run out of formula feed.. she died whilst I was there.. 4 days before she died a group of US drs had brought in formula feed.. they had every bottle deliberately removed by the Israeli border guards"

@Chriskenny_sky@mlxrp11@AngusTaylorMP Libs aren’t going to win back anyone using yesterday’s slogans. Their campaign is not authentic the people have woken up to that. ‘Toxic Tax’ seriously? What’s toxic is wealth inequality due to rubbish tax policy favouring investment over home ownership. Angus Abbott bullshit.
Abortion is not the business of legislators, especially those trying to buy a stairway to office (and heaven) on the back of women’s suffering. Abortion is women’s business. Their body, their right, their choice. https://t.co/1J6oGYP3yt
Gotta love Grace Tame’s response to Charlie Pickering’s attack, well said & all correct.
“Charlie Pickering made a direct choice to cosy up to a man found guilty of abusing his wife, while denouncing me as ignorant. Surely I needn’t point out the irony here.”🔥 #auspol
It's easy to point at Jillian Segal and make fun of how crazy and stupid she is, but the Albanese government is the only reason her craziness and stupidity is a problem.
The thing about Segal and all these "antisemitism advisors" they're setting up in western governments is that they're just random people with strong political opinions who are being elevated to ridiculous levels of influence. They're not experts, they're just people who happen to hold the political opinion that it should be illegal to criticize the state of Israel.
Which wouldn't normally be an issue; our society is full of individuals with terrible political opinions. The problem is that our government has selected these cartoonishly ridiculous Zionists to help shape policy in immensely consequential ways that erode the civil liberties of our nation. Our leaders are the ones to blame for these inept lunatics wielding absurd levels of influence; left to their own devices they'd just be harmless idiots. They're only harmful because they're being given the power to do harm.
Want to know what racism is? And I don’t mean mere discrimination but systemic, institutionalised racism? Then compare and contrast ABC’s handling of Charlie Pickering with Antoinette Latouf —Adelaide Festival and Randa Abel-Fattah, and Lebanese/Aussie artist Khaled Sabsabi.
Pickering is in damage control. He didn’t have to talk to Avi; he didn’t have to say what he said. But he did. And he did it very deliberately. The backlash was more than he expected and he knows he has to try and fix it.
Too late Charlie. You’ve shown your true self.
Notice how Grace Tame never offends women. Just grey haired men.
How’s the patriarchy working out for you guys?!
Difficult?
Problematic?
What did Morrison say?
Honestly! 🙄🙄
Australia's 178 billionaires are $25.7bn richer than last year as 3.7 million live in poverty.
But if you believe NewsCorpse a modest pay rise for low income earners will kill us all.
Loved this podcast with Grace Tame. Someone should let Charlie Pickering know there's nothing problematic about Grace sharing her lived experience of autism and helping educate people about it.
