"Nigeria happened to them" is the most overused Nigerian cliche.
It is used to either score cheap political points or for emotional validation to justify traveling and struggling abroad.
The same people who use the cliché most make excuses for the so-called 'saner climes' when bad things happen there.
Whether you like it or not, whatever negativity you paint Nigeria will rub off on you everywhere you go.

@234Drive and the engine got damaged. Sometimes, what seems like a fix only exposes a deeper problem😂.
Just leave the fan like that if you are not sure the engine has been tampered with
@234Drive In my first car, I reinstalled the thermostat, thinking I was fixing something minor. Turns out, the engine had been tampered with before I bought it 1.5 years, it ran perfectly fine without the thermostat, but 2months after putting it back, it started overheating…
I almost got scammed trying to book a shortlet.
While struggling to find accommodation for a 3-day stay in Lekki, I got the idea for what later became MyCribb @mycribbb —a secure proptech platform where travelers can book verified shortlets IN MINUTES.
My online search was a joke. The prices were ridiculous, and the booking sites were outdated and not user-friendly. “₦20,000 for a night in Lekki?!”
Instagram wasn’t any better. I had to wait hours just to get a response, then go back and forth about dates and prices. I was worried about scams and mismatched expectations from photos, and I began recalling stories of guests being cheated or scammed.
Eventually, I got a lifeline recommendation through a trusted contact. Still, it took almost an hour to book a simple three-day stay. To me, this was more than just an inconvenience. My research confirmed it: the entire shortlet industry was built on mistrust and inefficiency. This problem wasn’t just mine—it was everyone’s.
This frustration inspired MyCribb.
We decided that all listings will be physically verified on our platform, so what you see is exactly what you get. To combat scams, all payments are handled securely through the MyCribb platform. This keeps your money safe and allows us to easily manage refunds if needed.
I envisioned a CONVERSATIONAL AI SEARCH that understands natural language—like:
“Find me a 2-bedroom in Lekki with a pool and fast WiFi for this weekend.”
With this smarter search, you can find the perfect spot in under 7 minutes.
It's more than just a better process. It's about giving people the freedom to be spontaneous again, with the confidence that they’re safe.
That’s the idea behind MyCribb.
We're officially launching in July, and if you resonate with my frustration—whether as a guest or a host—sign up for the waitlist: https://t.co/HsmlrrrF7F
We’ll give you the best experience any booking platform has to offer, with 25% off your first booking service fee as a guest. Shortlet owners are welcome to list for free.
Using these tools will help you grow more quickly and save a lot of time.
Keep in mind that I said small, you need these tools because your competition is already using them, and they’ll outperform you!
Here’s a tip for all developers: If you’re working on a small gig that brings in some income, a smart investment would be subscribing to an LLM service like ChatGPT or Claude AI.
