Dr. Ebrahimi participated in #TAMEST2026 in San Antonio as a Protégé and presented:
“Decoding HIV and Cancer Mutation Disparities Using Integrative Computational and Experimental Biology.”
Engaging discussions with leaders across science and engineering. 🔬🧬
Congrats to Dr. Mohadeseh Soleimanpour from the Diako Lab for receiving an internal grant at Texas Biomed! Her work will develop computational methods to detect viral presence in tumors and reveal how viruses shape tumor progression using single-cell and bulk expression data.
It was a pleasure for the Diako Lab to partake in the 2025 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS). Jake, Mohadeseh, and Niloofar had the opportunity to present their research regarding APOBEC3 and cancer!
Excited to share a new publication our lab had the opportunity to collaborate on with Dr. Zhenming Xu. This study uncovers novel mechanisms by which BATF3⁺ B cells contribute to immune regulation through ligand-receptor signaling! https://t.co/jpsY2B6jp0
The Diako Lab would like to welcome the latest addition to our lab, Dr. Thamilvaani Manaharan. She is a visiting Fulbright scholar from Malaysia, eager to explore single-cell sequencing and computational biology approaches in our lab. Welcome!
The Diako Lab has been celebrating big wins! We enjoyed the Best Place to Work party, had our own lab party at Main Event, and cheered Diako on in a pickleball tournament. Good times and great energy!
56th Annual DNA Tumor Virus Meeting in Madison, WI!
What an incredible week where brilliant minds shared groundbreaking research, and Bucky Badger made an appearance. Postdoc, Jake Lehle, had the opportunity to present his work and make new connections at this conference!
At the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Retroviruses 2025 meeting, Armando Mendez gave a poster presentation and Dr. Diako Ebrahimi gave a talk over the current HIV research in the lab. Over the course of 5 days, many different labs shared their research on HIV.
Several members of the Diako Lab, representing the Texas Biomedical Association of Trainees (TBAT), volunteered at Viva Science SA 2025—a community event that invites people of all ages to explore and engage with science in a fun and interactive way!
The Diako Lab participating in the 2025 Texas Biomed Symposium. Our lab members presented their research as well as help to moderate the Science Communication panel!
Last week, Texas Biomed hosted the 2025 Global Health Symposium with the theme of "Looking to the Future, Learning from the Past". Dr. Ebrahimi moderated a panel titled "AI for Global Health and Pandemic Preparedness".
Postdoctoral scientists Jake Lehle and Niloofar Hahgjoo presented their research at the 2025 Mays Cancer Research Center Symposium. Congrats to Jake for winning 1st place in the postdoc category for posters!
We are excited to announce that our review paper on Viral Infection, APOBEC3 dysregulation, and cancer is now published and available online!
