los psicólogos son la peor mierda que existe y estoy harta de que romanticen el pagarle a una persona que no conocés, a la que muy seguramente no le importás ni vos ni tus problemas, y que solamente te escucha por la plata

well I've been thinking about some things & you might not like what I'm about to say especially bc we're all feeling pretty sensitive right now but idc sorry
⚠️ a lot of text
Both Adrien and Marinette have a really heavy psychological burden, but their character development needs to be different, and I think it's for the best that they spend some time apart because Marinette is VERY apprehensive when it comes to him, very overprotective, and the parallel with Gabriel lies in how she believes she's doing it for his own good and happiness, but in the end (even though Marinette genuinely loves him and sincerely wants what's best for him), while she wasn't directly controlling Adrien, she WAS controlling EVERYTHING around him; manipulating the truth and altering reality through her position of power as Ladybug. In the end, it's not that Marinette forced others to lie because every character has agency and acted according to their own interests, and all of them deserve to face the consequences, but it's also important to understand that, at this point in the story, she's both a victim and a perpetrator.
I don't want this to sound like I'm saying Marinette is like Gabriel because she isn't. The parallels aren't meant to put them in the same category. Marinette is someone with an enormous heart who made the wrong decisions because she didn't have the emotional tools to choose an alternative. And some of you might say "Well, she should've taken Adrien somewhere they couldn't akumatize him and told him the truth." No, this was never about Adrien getting akumatized. It was about facing what happened, telling uncomfortable truths, and reliving trauma. No, this isn't a speech meant to make her look like a victim. I'm telling you again, this isn't a justification because the decision to lie to Adrien (and the world) was WRONG.
She kept digging herself deeper and deeper into a hole until it got so deep that she no longer knows how to get out. So losing her memories isn't the same as being unable to learn from her mistakes. Instead, it could be a way for her to look at the situation from an "outside" perspective and genuinely ask herself WHY she did what she did. But that doesn't mean she shouldn't have to face the direct consequences of her actions (I mean, in the end, she IS paying for her mistakes through psychological damage, but she still has to face Adrien, and that would be fair).
Meanwhile, Adrien distancing himself from her could help him connect with the world around him and learn what he loves and who he really is, because yeah, Marinette loves him very much, but she still assigns him a label. How can I put it? Like "Adrien is fragile, he wouldn't be able to handle the truth," and even if she doesn't say it out loud, that's a belief she's imposing on him. That's why she's so overprotective of him. And that limits Adrien and it will continue to limit his development until the day he learns the truth about EVERYTHING, including the ways he's been lied to.
Adrien needs to be alone, to get angry, cry, feel desperate, make mistakes (I REALLY want to see him make mistakes, not on the scale of something like what Marinette did with the lie but everyday mistakes, like accidentally causing someone to get akumatized in the way Marinette did in the early seasons. I mean, it's happened before, yes, but not in the way they used to handle it with her), and grow as a person. But that shouldn't exclude the inevitable fact that Marinette will have to take responsibility and face him at some point, with or without her memories, because not having them doesn't absolve her of what she did.
Adrien deserves to have the power of love NOT make everything get swept under the rug by the next day, and that love never justifies the means. He needs to learn how to live for himself, and realize that Marinette wasn't actually all he had left. He has himself, and as long as he has that, the possibilities of rebuilding his life are endless.
