@ dialoguehistory @In between the appointment, lives, living and reign of the longest and shortest reign of POPES lies so many lessons enough to checkmate oneself and abandon arrogance, criminal and primitive accumulation not wealth.

LONGEST SERVING POPES IN HISTORY:

Saint Peter served as a pope for 38 years

Pope Pius served as a pope for 31 years, 7 months, 23 days

Pope John Paul II served as a pope for 26 years, 5 months, and 17 days

Pope Leo XIII served as a pope for 25 years, 5 months, and 1 day. Yet there is nothing to show how much they left behind, neither houses, nor monies in Bank accounts. Indeed they earned no salary at all. If they wanted that could have become billionaires. But they chose the path of honour and dignity all in an effort to earn salvation. They had a vow of poverty pope  Francis, who belong to a religious community, had a vow of poverty and own nothing. Whatever money POPESget is given to their community.

POPES WITH SHORTEST REIGN

Pope Urban VII served as a pope for only 13 days and died from malaria

Pope Boniface VI served as a pope only for 16 days

Pope Celestine IV served as a pope for 17 days only

Pope Sisinnius served as a pope for 21 days only.

These men of God elected based on popular polls and standing rules never envisaged a short reign.

The lesson from the above short-lived POPES was that you can spend all the money, shortchange all the processes, cut corners, rig the election etc so that you are elected but die either before you are sworn in or soon after assuming duty.
