Kieferpup needs your help.
Ystdy he woke with a severely inflamed bottom. Severe. Same as in Feb, March and April. We suspect inflammatory bowel disease. IBD not the human IBS. IBD is often fatal.
With any other dog, we would be doing exploratory surgery with biopsies taken from each sect of his GI tract. Kiefer has no back legs. He spends the majority time on his bottom and belly. Zipper stitches is the last thing we want to do to him.
We have ruled out parasites. Our next step is to rule out environmental allergies because he’s already on a hydrolyzed, allergy & IBD reduction diet. If his allergy panel looks good our only option will be exploratory surgery.
This test has more than doubled in price. We are treating his skin with a sticker shock, prescription shampoo.
Donations needed. Every dollar counts.

We’re really really struggling to find Jake a home, we knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it’s not impossible.
If everyone who sees his post can share, the power of sharing really does make a difference.
Let’s help Jake have a better life.
Jake is a 6 year old Bearded collie x Boarder Collie.
Jake is a product of his environment. He lived in home with two elderly owners, and has grown up with both of them going through the various stages of dementia. Other than walk and feed Jake, both owners had no idea of how to train or look after a dog. As a result he has had a stressful life to date, and at times has suffered physical abuse as a method of control. This shows in his behaviour, (nervous, defensive and will attack if feels threatened).
Training has been at a basic level, house trained and walking on the lead.
Jake gets nervous of noise, phones ,hoovers etc. This will lead to excessive barking and with hoovers he will attack them. In the late evening he will start barking for no good reason. Probably this is related to his owners health condition as dementia sufferers symptoms get worse later in the day.
That sums up Jake’s bad points.
Outside Jake is a different dog. He no longer pulls on the lead when walking, takes a command to wait and is more comfortable with passing vehicles.
Small fast cars are still a slight issue. He is no problem when he meets people outside and will lie down should a conversation take place. Most times he is fine meeting other dogs. The exception is if another dog gets aggressive. He will respond. He does not like cats! It should be noted that Jake is also ok with people coming into the house.
He loves to run and fetch a ball. He will happily play outside all day if someone is throwing a ball. Currently this is done on a long rope lead as his play area is not fully enclosed.
Jake requires a quiet home with owners who understand the breed, and can continue to improve his issues. He is not ready ( and may never be) for a house with young children. He needs his space to regain the trust that a raised voice or hand is not a threat.
Over the past 6 weeks there has been an improvement in his behaviour. That said there is still a way to go before he becomes the dog he can and should be.
Jake has a diet of dry food mixed with a small sachet of wet food. In addition to this he does get treats, which he enjoys, as a reward.
From the limited experience with Jake he has been ok in the car.
Jake has and has always had a large cage that he goes into if left alone. He also sleeps in it at night. He is fit and healthy.

Please share this post to help more dogs.
This week has been one of the hardest we've faced in a long time.
The extreme heat hasn't just affected the 80+ dogs in our sanctuary, it has put countless dogs living on the streets and those in vulnerable situations at even greater risk.
From 6am until late into the evening, our team has barely stopped. While making sure every dog at the sanctuary stays cool, hydrated, calm and safe, we've also been responding to call after call from the London Ambulance Service asking us to assist dogs in crisis.
We don't say this for sympathy.
We say it because this is reality.
Every dog we help costs money. Every emergency we respond to costs money. Every vulnerable dog we help comes with veterinary bills, transport costs, food, medication and ongoing care. The demand is relentless, and right now, it feels like we're being pulled in every direction.
Financially, we are under enormous pressure.
Alongside our everyday running costs, we have so many outstanding invoices that need paying, including a £5,400 accountancy bill for our annual charity accounts. It's a huge amount, and if we're honest, it's keeping me awake at night.
The heartbreaking truth is that we're getting closer to a point we've always feared... having to say "no."
We've always done everything possible to help every dog that crosses our path. But without the funds to continue, we simply can't keep stretching ourselves beyond breaking point.
We'll be launching another fundraiser this week, and we're asking, from the bottom of our hearts, if you can help in any way. Whether it's £1, £5, £10, or simply sharing our posts so they reach more people, it all makes a difference. Every single act of kindness helps us keep saying "yes" to the next dog that desperately needs us.
On a brighter note, the sprinkler hoses have been an absolute hit with the dogs this week! Watching them play, cool off and forget the hardships they've endured reminds us exactly why we keep fighting, even on the toughest days.
Finally, I want to say a huge thank you to our incredible team. They've worked tirelessly in exhausting conditions without complaint, putting the dogs first every single day. I honestly couldn't be prouder of every one of them.
We're not through the worst of this heat yet, but we'll keep showing up.
Because the dogs don't get a day off from surviving... and neither do we. ❤️

A real long shot but can people retweet this please.
Yesterday all my items were stolen in Eastbourne including my stats book which has 20 years worth of details in. Laptops, phones, clothes, shavers etc can all be replaced but this can’t and is useless to anyone else. It’s in a plastic folder you can see in the left hand side of this photo. Can anyone in that neck of the woods please keep an eye out. I’m gutted about this.
