After 30 years on death row, Christa Gail Pike is set to die today in Tennessee for what she did to 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in 1995.
Pike was 18.
She and two others lured Colleen into the woods, cut her, beat her with a chunk of asphalt, carved a pentagram into her chest, and Pike kept a piece of her skull as a souvenir. 😱
Colleen’s mother has waited three decades for this sentence to actually happen.
If it goes forward, Pike will be the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years.
A long wait is still not the same as forgetting the girl who died.
Colleen Slemmer’s life mattered.
Her name should not get buried under all the noise about the woman who took it.
Pray for Colleen’s family.
Pray for the people who have to carry out the sentence.
And yes, pray that Christa Gail Pike has truly repented before she stands before God.
