@SteveHaythorne@JamesMelville Interestingly you've used the phrase 'jargonised bollocks' there when 'rubbish' would have sufficed. It's almost as though you've tried to create a term for something simple so you sound clever...
@SmarterSig@JamesMelville Disagreeing with this. Shearer's role is to 'colour' the commentary, so if he feels a team is displaying more conviction in their approach, "they're starting to believe" conveys this. He played the game, he recognises the body language and the feeling within a group of players.
@stowspin791@JamesMelville That's probably evolved to replace 'woodwork', as in "he's hit the woodwork", as goals haven't been made of wood for quite a while now.
@Haggis_UK That has to be the answer as surely she couldn't be dumb enough to have both thought this up all by herself, and dumber still to think she'd get an answer other than "That's not for discussion". Did 'EL Money' promise her £20 to ask this?
@Haggis_UK She's not smart enough to realise Reform chiefly values her as a useful idiot. She'll have been primed to ask this by someone else, and was probably thrilled by having a chance to 'own' the minister, unaware she was effectively being set up.
@mxdric That'd be Russia that *checks notes* invaded Ukraine? This is such a statement of gullibility. Russia and Qatar got the World Cup because they threw money at Infantino and FIFA - why? Because hosting a major world sporting event legitimises the regimes that run them.
@Toothy73@corybrenneman I suspect they admitted to two further counts relating to games they didn't win in an attempt to show that spying didn't help them, but it's stretching credibility to suggest there weren't other occasions. Trying to take the commission for fools probably didn't go down well.
