Iran struck Saudi Arabia in February. Houthis just hit its main oil pipeline. Brent crude is near $108, well above the $80 to 85 Riyadh needs to break even. The same war straining MBS's finances is quietly paying part of the bill.

“It is all Biden's fault”
🔸Gas was $3.12 per gallon when Biden left office. It is $4.33 today.
🔸Diesel was $3.63 a gallon when Biden left office. It is $6.27 today.
🔸America was not at war when Biden left office. We are at war with Iran today.
🔸Inflation for 2024 was 2.9%. It is 3.4% today.
🔸Wage gains for 2024 were 3.9%. Today, 3.1%.
🔸Real Wage Gains were +1.0% in 2024. Today, they are -0.3%.
🔸GDP growth was 2.8% in 2024. In the second quarter of 2026, it was 1.5%.
🔸The number of uninsured Americans decreased by almost 1 million over Biden's term. It has increased by 3 million since he left office.
🔸Home electricity prices have risen 12% since Biden left office.
🔸The native-born employment rate has decreased by ~1.7% since December 2024—the opposite of what a big deportation effort was supposed to do.
You can't blame the last administration for everything bad happening 20 months into a new administration that enacted tariffs, started a war, and kicked people off their healthcare to give more tax breaks to corporations and billionaires.
There is a good case to be made that the current misadventure in Iran is the most catastrophically stupid foreign policy action/ military entanglement ever undertaken in the history of the United States.
🇾🇪 The Houthis’ acting foreign minister says the group has “no intention” of closing Bab el-Mandeb or the Red Sea and insists “navigation is normal.”
The numbers tell a less comfortable story.
Just 21 commodity vessels crossed Bab el-Mandeb on Monday, down from roughly 50 a day before the war began in February.
Hormuz was even worse: 4 vessels versus about 130 before the war.
You really do not need to formally “close” a strait to make shipping behave as if it is closing.
The Houthis now control Yemen’s entire Red Sea coastline after taking territory around Bab el-Mandeb, Mokha and nearby islands, while attacks on Saudi-linked vessels have resumed.
Abdulwahid Abu Ras also says the Houthis remain open to peace talks and still want the 2022 roadmap revived.
So the message is deliberately dual-track:
We are not closing the Red Sea!
... we just happen to control the shoreline while traffic thins out around us.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken:
The Gulf states are all looking to talk to Tehran, maybe cut a deal with Tehran.
They’re looking to cut deals because they know that, unfortunately, what they’ve seen is we can’t necessarily defend them.
Putin is using 21st-century resources to fight a 20th-century war, in pursuit of a 19th-century empire — while mortgaging Russia’s 22nd-century future to do it. A tragic collision of centuries🎃

TRUMP: “If you replace the E with a U, instead of Democrat you have Dumocrat and most people don’t know dumb has a B at the end, but it’s ok.”
Is Trump actually the most stupid fucking president we ever had?
Democracy promotion is one Western interest among many, and it keeps losing to security, energy and great power politics.
Museveni fights terrorism, Saudi Arabia sells oil, Vietnam counters China. Repression at home gets a pass when the price is right.

⚡️ The Kremlin is increasingly considering the possibility that Putin could use tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine
According to Bloomberg sources, negotiations to end the war have effectively reached a dead end: Putin has refused to make concessions and is now preparing for a new round of escalation.
In particular, Moscow is considering intensifying strikes on Kyiv, as well as on infrastructure targets in other Ukrainian cities.
Some Russian officials are even coming to the conclusion that, as a last resort, Putin could resort to a nuclear strike.
Over 20,000 North Korean troops sent to fight for Russia. Roughly 6,000 dead. In return, Kim gets the satellite, missile and submarine tech sanctions were built to keep from him.

Extreme poverty cut by a third. 8.9% GDP growth. Also: a $1 billion ruling party business empire, a 99.18% election win, and an assassinated exile. Kagame's Rwanda tests what a well run dictatorship can and can't fix.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian:
I was in the presence of the Supreme Leader, and in his speeches as well, he openly stated that we must move beyond this state of "neither war nor peace."
We are not going to humiliatingly back down before the enemy or bow our heads.
We can sit down with strength, but also with logic, and resolve our problems. This is possible, and we are also working to make it happen.
Two attempted troop deployments under disputed legal authority. A Supreme Court loss. 8,000 federal jobs stripped of civil service protection. We tracked what has actually happened to executive power under Trump, sourced and fact checked, no speculation.

Today, I had the honor of joining my brother, President Cyril Ramaphosa, at the Gallagher Convention Centre for the South Africa–Zimbabwe Business Forum.
Running alongside the 4th Session of our Bi-National Commission (BNC), this critical forum brings together business leaders and stakeholders from both nations to unlock massive trade and investment opportunities.
Our region is not poor in resources. We are endowed with critical minerals, fertile agricultural land, vibrant industries, and world-class universities. Most importantly, we have talented young people with ideas, energy, and ambition. The task before us is to unlock their inherent acumen to build a better future.
Our natural resources must increasingly feed industries within our own region and create value for our people—not for others. I am highly encouraged by the innovations emerging from our tertiary institutions and innovation hubs in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, engineering, and IT.
What must now follow is production. An innovation cannot just remain in a laboratory; it must be commercialized.Through this forum, our shared vision is clear:Together , we are driving sustainable economic growth, empowering our youth, and deepening regional integration. Africa is open for business!
