@doppelbanger__ You won't get access to deals that have the potential to outperform the public markets anyway unless you're a highly connected person who's likely already worth millions lol
@stanfordNYC Yeah, I think this is the correct read. I think the reason why the gulf model works is because the monarchies are illiberal absolute monarchies, and as liberal democracies are biased towards the shitty-but-somewhat-politically workable status quo.
@stanfordNYC You get to pick and choose who gets to come, lots of countries with terrible labor markets would love a pressure valve, and you get to temporarily (because the developing markets are aging themselves) solve workforce issues
@stanfordNYC There are plenty of people who would love to come to developed markets, make a high wage, take the money back to their country and live like kings. And lots of entrepreneus/agencies/etc would love to build the infrastructure to make it a reality
@Kazanjy Is this not already required for most "elite" careers? Lots of consulting/big tech/finance interviews already have some form of technical which they use for entry level hiring. The jobs which don't mostly don't need them...employers keep coming back for a reason
@neerajadeshp It's so weird to me that more people aren't more willing to suggest that sometimes you just have to (at the very least, temporarily!) change your behavior if you want to pursue desirable outcomes that are seemingly out of reach with current patterns. Ain't nothing wrong with it!
@number_pizza111 I think you have it mixed? Economics, especially at top schools is much more mathematical and technical than finance degrees. A lot of top schools don't even have finance degrees.
@boogaloogrrl The most important thing for escaping singledom is cultivate a lifestyle where you're meeting members of the opposite sex consistently. Hard for the odds to be against you, even when considering other stats (attractiveness, pleasantness, etc)
@sp6runderrated It's much better than becoming the main character every week for some Elon-bucks though. Soon as I take a walk around my city, I remember almost non of the conversations here matter.
@GergelyOrosz The thing is that unless you've already built up a network, they don't help! Almost all these AI-generated comments get no engagement and they usually make me look down on the "speaker" and write them off, even if they're a leader in their field.
@Porkchop_EXP The argument is that Switzerland is wealthier than its neighbors because it has more productive companies. The author presents this a scandalous fact but this is what I would expect to happen. Where does wealth come from? Storks???
@akhivae I remember when I was in a long-distance relationship, my ex said that she didn't understand why I was so unhappy with the lack of physical contact and lack of IRL hang-outs. For her the texts and FaceTime calls were more than enough. Have always thought about that when seeing-
